Congratulations to Victoria Gadbois of Victorious Wellness for placing 2nd in the inaugural SBCN Startup Showdown, North Carolina's first statewide entrepreneurship competition! 🥈

Victoria, a client of the Wilkes Community College Small Business Center, was selected from 316 applicants statewide and earned $20,000 in startup funding for her vision of an integrative women's wellness center coming to Wilkes County.

"Placing second in the Startup Showdown is one of the proudest moments of my life," said Victoria. "I am beyond grateful to the Wilkes Community College Small Business Center, my family, friends and this entire community for believing in me."

Most owners didn't start a business because they loved spreadsheets — they had a vision: a product, a craft, a community to serve.

But the businesses that survive their slowest months and grow on purpose all share one thing: their owners know their numbers.

This focused, two-hour workshop is your express route to financial fluency. You'll learn to:

📊 Read the story your financial statements are telling
💰 Keep cash flowing through your slowest months
🏷️ Price your products to actually make a profit
🚨 Spot the warning signs of trouble before it arrives

Taught through worked examples you can take straight back to your own books. You'll leave with the formulas, frameworks, and confidence to make your next financial decision a deliberate one.

📅 Monday, September 28
🕘 9:00 AM or 6:00 PM
📍 WCC Ashe Campus

Thank you for showing up for Victoria!

If you've already watched and liked her pitch video — thank you! Every single vote is making a difference.

Haven't had the chance yet? Voting ends tomorrow, September 15 — and this race is close. It's going to come down to a narrow margin. Your vote could be the one that matters.

Here's how:
1️⃣ Watch Victoria's pitch on the SBCN YouTube channel
2️⃣ Like the video — that's your vote!
3️⃣ Share with family and friends — every share is another chance for a vote

Most owners didn't start a business because they loved spreadsheets.

They started it because they had a vision — a product, a craft, a community to serve.

But here's the truth: the businesses that survive their slowest months and grow on purpose all have one thing in common — their owners know their numbers.

Not "kind of know." Not "my accountant handles it." Actually know: what's coming in, what's going out, and what it means for the next move.

That's exactly what we're covering in our free training for small business owners. No jargon, no judgment — just the financial clarity you need to run your business with confidence.
