Taking care of a loved one can be stressful, and Caregiver Helper's goal is to help ease that stress and give families peace of mind. Caregiver Helper assists family caregivers who need help finding services or paid helpers for their loved ones. Caregiver Helper does not employ caregivers, but we assist our clients in finding the help they need. In 2015 Caregiver Helper's founder, Ginger Thompson,
was suddenly thrust into the role of being a caregiver to her mother, Helen. She had to quickly find a nursing home rehab program for Helen, then an assisted living facility. When Helen could no longer afford her facility, she moved into Ginger's home. Ginger quickly learned to navigate the world of recruiting, screening, and hiring personal care aides, CNAs, and LPNs to assist her. Ginger became a Household Employer with a staff of 4, handling payroll and tax withholding. She developed job descriptions, an accountability process, and charting system. She also became schooled in the Medicaid spend-down process. When she could no longer afford -- physically, financially, or emotionally -- to care for Helen at home, she set about the process of finding a quality facility that accepted Medicaid. Helen is happily living in such a facility today. In 2020, Ginger had to do it again. Her partner's 94-year-old mother, who had previously been spry and lived independently, became ill suddenly, requiring round-the-clock live-in and supplemental help. Ginger recruited and screened caregivers, helped her partner and his family set up a payroll account, and choose a Hospice provider. Unfortunately, her mother-in-law passed away from her illness. These experiences made her realize that families need support when it comes to caregiving, and Caregiver Helper was born. Navigating the hiring process, payroll, tax withholding, Medicare, and Medicaid is very daunting, even for someone like Ginger who has worked in the aging services space for more than 17 years. Caregiver Helper isn't an employment agency or home care company. Ginger isn't a social worker, health provider, or attorney. Caregiver Helper will help your family find household help, screen them, help you set up a payroll account, and develop job descriptions and accountability processes. A personalized charting system specifically designed for your loved one is one of the services provided. If your loved one needs to be admitted to a facility, either temporarily or permanently, Caregiver Helper will help. Caregiver Helper does not provide legal advice, direct care, medical advice, diagnosis or treatment; or legal, or financial or any other professional services advice.
