We were blessed to get the chance to help the Morrisons Cove Park get these trees removed for the safety and well being of the park. After examining each tree, we found signs of fungal root rot. Being from either Armillaria or Ganoderma fungus . Both cause root decay resulting in structural instability. This was the reason for removing the 18 we took out from the park grounds. This job tested me in every way. This was the biggest job I have taken on since I started. I am thankful for the guys pushing through and helping me get these down safely.

A big thanks to Austin at Smiths Stump Grinding and Outdoor Services for grinding all the stumps for us. He does an awesome job and is a pleasure to work with.

We’re looking forward to working along side Donny Coffey from Natures Canopy Tree and Shrub Care to help the park preserve these trees. Donny is an ISA Certified Arborist and a Certified Tree Risk Accessor. He specializes in plant healthcare and mature tree preservation. He is implementing a IPM Program (Integrated Pest Management) for each tree. 164 trees to be exact! It’s going to take some time and stewardship. We’re confident we can keep these witness trees to stay around for years to come.

This was our first big challenge of 2026. Three large black locust sitting atop of a 12 foot retaining wall, within 2’ of a wooden fence, and overhanging the public sidewalk and electrical pole guide cables. Very little room to work with on the ground. The fence and adjacent trees made it even more challenging. We utilized every bit of the 74 feet of reach the lift had to remove the tree safely and efficiently. Once we got the trees on the ground, we processed the brush and utilized the trunk and limbs for firewood. It’s not about how big the machines are or how many you have. It’s the knowledge and experience of the people running the machines and the crew on the ground. The more you know, the less you need!

Looked at this job before the trees got leaves. The customer in Martinsburg wanted these two giant silver maples removed from the property. We left everything bigger than 12 inches for the home owner and chipped the rest. This one has topped my list being the largest diameter tree I have cut. This one measured in at 65” in a diameter. You can get an idea of the size of this thing from the pictures. Another fun and successful job in the books.

Before, during, and after of some white pines we removed between two houses in Williamsburg. Definitely a challenging one with limbs over top of the houses and having to avoid the power and cable lines. Now the home owners won’t have to worry about cleaning their gutters every week.

Storm clean up job we did today at the Morrisons Cove Park. Root rot and high winds aren’t a great duo. Two of the three vehicles didn’t survive this showdown with a 40 inch diameter white oak as you can see in the pictures. Glad we could help the park out and get this mess cleaned up for them.

Low impact removals. That’s what we specialize in. This client wanted us to remove this white oak that had just recently died within the past year. They asked if we could do it without damaging any of the surrounding trees and shrubs that were growing within a 8 foot radius of the trunk. Of course our answer was yes. There were also power lines on the backside of the tree that added on to the amount obstacles we had to work around. With the help of the GRCS we were able to cut limbs and raise them up and around the obstacles below. We got the tree down safely with no damage to the other trees or any type of blemish in the clients yard. Experience coupled with the proper equipment is the key to success with a job of such caliber.
