Mead is one of the most historic fermented drinks found on Earth with the creativity of craft beer and the elegance of wine. It is created by fermenting sugars found in honey with additional herbs, spices, and fruits added to create unique flavors. Our meads typically have an ABV of 11% to 14% and range from dry to sweet, with beautiful clarity and color. Since mead is mostly an unfamiliar drink,

we offer tasting experiences of the different varietals of honey we use ranging from Orange Blossom to Star Thistle and more. Contact us today for more information!

New mead release. Live jazz. A holiday weekend. Sounds like a pretty sweet recipe to us!

Today, we’re releasing Carrot On My Wayward Son, our newest mead, and welcoming the George Cruz Trio for an evening of live jazz.

Crafted with rich carrot blossom honey, Carrot On My Wayward Son is a semi-sweet traditional mead with a smooth, velvety character, warm buttery depth, gentle notes of sweet potato and an earthy sweetness that lingers on the finish.

Comforting, grounded and quietly reassuring, it’s a beautiful expression of just how distinctive a single varietal of honey can be.

Food service begins at 6 PM, tonight followed by live jazz from 7–9 PM with Richmond-based pianist and composer George Cruz, Joe Bussey on bass and Keith Willingham on drums.

No tickets. No reservations. Just come on by, discover our newest mead and settle in for a Friday night filled with great music, food and drink.

Our next Discover Wine Series event is going to be a special one!

Join us on September 9 at 6:30 PM for an exploration of the celebrated wines of Piedmont, Italy.

Our in-house wine educator and certified specialist of wine (CSW), Kenny Bumbaco, will guide you through a thoughtfully selected lineup of six wines from this renowned region. Each tasting will be accompanied by a small cheese plate and crackers.

Whether you’re already a fan of Italian wine or eager to discover something new, this is an evening you won’t want to miss.

Pumpkin season arrives today with the double release of Today is the Greatest Pumpkin Pie Spice Metheglin and our Pumpkin Pie Spiced Whipped Honey. Come taste two delicious ways to savor the flavors of fall, then stay for an evening of live music at Williamsburg’s Home for Jazz.

Food service begins at 6 PM, giving you time to grab a bite and pour a glass before our Jazz Jam takes over the tasting room from 7–9 PM.

Jazz Friday is back this Friday, August 21 at Silver Hand Meadery with an incredible evening of live music featuring award-winning pianist Justin Kauflin and special guest Jimmy Masters.

A Yamaha Artist and U.S. State Department Jazz Ambassador, Justin is known for blending the sophistication of post-bop jazz with the soulful influence of gospel music. His career has taken him around the world, including a decade of touring and working with Quincy Jones and Quincy Jones Productions across more than 25 countries. Today, he also serves on the faculty at the Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk and produces its Jazz Nights concert series.

Joining Justin is Jimmy Masters, a fixture of the Hampton Roads jazz community who regularly performs throughout the region and has spent years helping keep live jazz thriving in venues across Hampton Roads.

Food service begins at 6 PM, so come early for a bite and a glass of your favorite mead, cider or wine.

Then, from 7–9 PM, settle in for an evening of exceptional live jazz at Williamsburg’s Home for Jazz.

Back by popular demand: Mahjong is returning to Silver Hand Meadery!

If you missed out the first time, here’s your chance to join Let’s Mahj Williamsburg for a two-class beginner experience designed to help you learn the game, understand the basics, and build confidence through guided play.

Week 1: Mahj101 | August 19
Learn the tiles, the NMJL card, and the basics of gameplay.

Week 2: Guided Play | August 26
Return one week later and pick up right where you left off with supported, real-time play.

The two-class package is $75 and will be hosted right here at Silver Hand Meadery & Honey Shop.
