What makes it downtown Williamsport PA shop unique is that we have stuff you never probably heard of. Like a brittle star fossil , these are found in Morocco. Unlike common starfish, brittle stars have a distinct central disc and long, slender, flexible arms.The orange or yellow coloration seen on the specimen is natural and caused by the oxidation of iron pyrite (fool's gold) that replaced the organic material during fossilization. These are extremely rare because their skeletons are made of over a million tiny articulated pieces that quickly disintegrate after death, well-preserved whole specimens are scientifically valuable and indicate rapid burial in ancient fine-sediment environments.

Have you ever heard of a Cephalopod fossil? They are the mineralized remains of ancient marine mollusks, closely related to modern squids, octopuses, and nautiluses. Because their soft bodies rarely preserve, the fossil record almost exclusively consists of their hard outer shells or internal structures, which have dominated Earth's oceans for over 500 million years.
