On April 7, Suban Nur Cooley was officially honored as the new Lansing poet laureate, with all four laureates emeritus, Dennis Hinrichsen, Laura Apol, Masaki Takahashi, and Ruelaine Stokes, present to support her on her exciting new journey! It was a packed evening at The Robin Theatre with plenty of poetry and inspiration, and we are grateful to The RCAH Center for Poetry at MSU for making it possible, and to everyone who joined in the celebration!

Seven species of yellow-faced bees were officially declared endangered in 2016—marking the first time any bee made the endangered list. Despite protection, their future remains uncertain, though research has already uncovered 11 new species.
Bees aren’t just tiny insects—they’re powerful pollinators that keep ecosystems alive and food systems running. Without them, many plants (and crops we rely on) would struggle to survive. Every small effort to protect bees helps preserve biodiversity and balance in nature.
