Hi everyone,
Here are several photos of a railing system that I built recently. This was a solution for a 120-year-old set of granite-fieldstone steps that are uneven in height, a bit steeper than most stairs, and are prone to icing during the winter months.
The process involved drilling into the granite, which ate through two masonry drill bits (5 posts; 20 drill-holes) and then using expansion-type anchor bolts to hold the posts in position.
The balusters are stylized to match their counterparts on the rest of the property; cut on a bandsaw using a template, and rounding off the edges uniformly using a router.
