Hi everyone,
Here are several photos of a railing system that I built recently. This was a solution for a 120-year-old set of granite-fieldstone steps that are uneven in height, a bit steeper than most stairs, and are prone to icing during the winter months.
The process involved drilling into the granite, which ate through two masonry drill bits (5 posts; 20 drill-holes) and then using expansion-type anchor bolts to hold the posts in position.
The balusters are stylized to match their counterparts on the rest of the property; cut on a bandsaw using a template, and rounding off the edges uniformly using a router.

Here are a few photographs of the second floor renovation project nearing completion. The trim and baseboard heating covers are installed; all that remains for that part of the second floor is the final electrical work and painting.
Next: build an adjoining bathroom!

The major part of the current second-story renovation/upgrade is complete (removal of most of the existing DIY framing/insulation/drywall; partial re-framing; re-insulation; new drywall).

"Before" and "after" photos coming soon!

Next step: flooring. Clients have yet to decide what type of floor they want; leaning toward hardwood...

Like our kitchen, the bathroom was original to the house and in dire need of at least a partial renovation. Taking budget constraints into consideration, we decided on a partial re-do (we left the tub / shower as is and focused on the rest of the room). The following pictures show the "before and after" along with a few pictures taken during the project itself.

Deck repairs led to a decision to re-shingle the adjoining walls (badly needed). This photo shows one of two diamond weaves that I included on one of the walls.
