6/12 10:45A: A disaster declaration has been issued by Gillespie County Judge Daniel Jones in support of New World Screwworm incident response and community impacts.

A local disaster declaration allows public officials and agencies to focus on emergency response relating to state and federal screwworm operations and also starts the process for additional state resources and possible recovery resources and support in the future.

Local officials continue to coordinate with lead state and federal response agencies, maintain situational awareness of evolving response, and share information and educational resources to the public.

Fredericksburg and Gillespie County residents are encouraged to inspect pets and livestock diligently and report suspicious wounds or maggots immediately to the Texas Animal Health Commission.
