Today Aid Township Volunteer Fire Dept joined with members of our community to accept our new 2026 - 3000 gallon Pumper Tanker into service. We were able to acquire this truck through a FEMA AFG Grant. This truck replaces a 80-s model homemade tanker that was outdated. Having 3000 gallons at our ready is a blessing out in this rural area. We have 3 hydrant/flush valves in the 117 square miles we provide coverage for, so the need for a Tanker this size was imperative. Our last surviving founding member Clarence Short sat the drivers seat of the new truck while we "pushed" it in the station.
We are beyond blessed to have such a wonderful support from our community and we strive to keep giving back to you all.

Saturday August 15th at 1pm at the Aid Twp Vol Fire Dept we will be welcoming our brand new 2026 3000 gallon Pumper Tanker to our fleet We plan on a old fashioned "Push-In" Ceremony with founding member Clarence Short at wheel.

For those that noticed the big ROAD CLOSED AHEAD sign coming out of Ironton here's the info on that closure
🚨93 ROAD CLOSURE DECATUR AREA 🚨

An upcoming State Route 93 culvert replacement in Lawrence County will close SR 93 between County Road 34 and Township Road 258 from August 24 through August 26, 2026. Drivers should use the posted detour taking SR 93 to SR 140 to U.S. 52 to SR 522 and back to SR 93.

New Girl Scout Troop 3016 had a few of their members come to see us Sunday and learned about trail/hiking safety and rescue and campfire safety. They are a brand new group local to our area and they are looking for new members. We are super excited to meet them and have them in our community!

ATVFD responded this evening with Elizabeth Twp, Decatur Twp and Upper Twp to a motor vehicle wreck on County Rd 4 that was a dump truck rollover with entrapment. There were multiple agencies on scene. The victim was extricated and sent by helicopter to Cabell Huntington. Our department Hazmet trailer and team were able to deploy and help with clean up. We truly appreciate everyone that helped, from our first responders to the people that were on the roadway. Thanks to whomever brought cold drinks for everyone. Thanks to EMS, OSP, Lawrence Co SO, Freddie Sisler Towing, Kenny Cogans Towing, Elizabeth Township FD, Upper Twp FD, Decatur Twp FD, Coal Grove FD, Marshall Health Flight Team, 911 Dispatch and any and everyone else that was there to assist.

Well what can I say, I'm utterly exhausted. But tonight I saw hundreds of people come together and celebrate our country. Our little rural community is the best in the nation, prove me wrong.... Im so proud to be a part of it and share it with everyone. Almost 300 hotdogs served with desserts, drinks, chips etc. All donated. Lots of great prizes donated. It was just awesome! Next year will be bigger and better! ATVFD thanks you all for a wonderful celebration!
