On February 13, 2026 my autistic son Aden was admitted into the hospital after experiencing flu-like symptoms that weren’t resolving after 2 weeks and couldn’t keep anything down. Everything had changed overnight. He was then diagnosed with stage 4 renal failure and spent weeks in the hospital with procedures back to back and had two biopsies to find out what caused his kidneys to fail. The doctors were baffled at the fact that they were functioning at such a low percentage.
One day, he woke up as he normally would for dialysis and he began to cough up blood. He was rushed to the hospital and shortly after being admitted, he went into cardiac arrest. We were told he had build up blood what seeped into his lungs from the procedure he had got from the first hospitalization and went wrong as he developed an aneurysm which caused his heart to fail and almost killed him. We thought we were going to lose him and couldn’t understand why this all happened.
Through all of this, he still is unable to understand why this is happening and in his words, why his body isn’t working and why can’t his body be normal like everyone else’s. It is heartbreaking as a mother to see one of her children struggle and go through unbearable pain at such a young age. Having to sit down with him and try to explain what’s going one and everything isn’t easy especially telling him the fight isn’t over yet.
He has been so strong and I owe it to God for taking care of my son and allowing him to wake up every morning. He is hoping for a successful kidney transplant very soon when he eventually makes it to the top of the list and we are hoping it’s soon.
Since my son has been in and out of the hospital these past months, it has been difficult to work as we have to constantly take time off of work and take him to all of his appointments. With that said, we are asking the community for any support to help ease the pain of financial burden of renal diet meals, bills, medical expenses, travel expenses. Anything, no matter how small, means more than words can express. Most of all, we also ask for prayers of healing and strength❤️

A honorable mention- Aden is a senior this year and will be walking the stage this month in a wheelchair to receive his high school diploma despite his chronic illnesses and gains a sense of normality back in his life even if it’s for a day.
