At Smith Group Advisors we constantly assess the economy and trends that separate successful companies from those that struggle to maintain operations. One such trend is the method that companies utilize to make decisions. Traditional Financial analysis and comparative reporting will eventually take a back step to Data Analytics (DA). DA is a method where historical data is compiled in a manner that reveals information (beyond financial) when decisions were made and the effects of those decisions. Then by using today’s tools such as AI, Data Modeling, Machine Learning, etc… C-suite executives will ask why this result occurred and what would the result be if changes are made.

In an effort to stay abreast of these emerging trends and technology we are proud to announce that our very own Terry Smith has been accepted to the UNCW Graduate School where he will pursue a Master’s in Business Analytics beginning in the Spring of 2026. We will continue to keep you posted as he continues his journey along with Tabatha pursuing her Masters in Accounting from NC State.
