RACE ACROSS THE EAST’S FIRST ENTRANTS
This Race WILL Sell-Out!
Registration for our first ever Race Across the East (RAE) has been open for less than a day, and already the roster tells us that it will be an interesting race. The solo field is halfway to our racer limit, and there is only 1 more 2-person slot left, and 4 more 4-person slots available.
The very first entrant was Team Inovalon, a 2-person team with Ryan Collins and an as yet unnamed second rider. Collins was on the winning 2-person Race Across the West team in 2023, paired with Marko Baloh (Slovenia)
Speaking of Marko, he was among the first solos to toss their helmets in the RAE ring, along with Joe Lawhorn (USA). Neither was a surprise to us—when this new event was first announced the two traded a few enthusiastic messages on Facebook, with Baloh writing, “I will be clicking on January 1st, that's for sure!” The 7-time RAAM finisher also wrote, “It will be great seeing it once with a clear head and riding it on fresh legs.
Lawhorn raced RAAM 2018, finishing 7th in the under 50 solo male category, having completed that year’s 3,069-mile route in 11 days, 20 hours and 48 minutes (10.78 mph average). Lawhorn is planning a return to RAAM in 2025, and had this to say about the Race Across East. “I'm gearing up for 2025 RAAM, and this will be a great shakedown for the crew. During RAAM by the time we hit my home turf of the Appalachian Mountains, we’d already done the Rockies, Desert, Headwind of Kansas and 2,500+ miles. To say the least you can't attack them. So I will be eager to attack the climbs I was in survival mode for during RAAM. Happy to see my good friends Marko Baloh Marko Baloh ultra-cyclist and Irma Baloh on the start line.”
How about YOU? If you’ve always dreamed about doing RAAM or RAW but had travel logistics or were concerned about the deserts, then the Race Across the East may be just the thing for you. Go it alone, or gather up a friend or three and do it on a team.
Don’t delay. We anticipate having this event SELL OUT.
The time to register and get to planning and training is NOW.
Early registration ends January 15. Sign-up before to maximize your racing budget.
