Why is Aging in Place a concern/factor today?

There are several reasons for the increasing interest in Aging in Place:
--Increasing size of aging population – Baby Boomers (1946-1965) – 78million / 28% US population. Own 48% of homes. They are re-defining retirement – rather then retire, they end one career and start another one.
--Market desire to stay in one’s home – social attachments – want to stay near neighbors, friends and family.

“I have personally experienced the challenges that families face with finding resources to assist both disabled children and elders to live at home safely,” said Rena Hannaford, CEO. “Two of my siblings had developmental disabilities and medical issues and there were limited resources to assist our family. And my aging mother needed resources to help her continue to live independently, as she wished. I felt it important for us to help families struggling with similar issues by launching a new division solely dedicated to this mission.”
