SOLD! Stunning wooden glider rocking horse. This is a modern horse based on a classic Victorian design. Made in Australia in 2005, based on a pattern from The Rocking Horse Shop of England (confirmed by them that it is their design). I purchased this horse from the original owner, and did only minor restoration. Structurally sound and in beautiful condition, the horse only needed new tack. The leather bridle and saddle were imported from The Rocking Horse shop. I sewed a new saddle pad, choosing a teal and white fabric with bright silver trim that contrasts perfectly with the warm red tone of the wood grain horse and the real flaxen-colored horse hair mane and tail.

This horse is on a glider stand, I’ve included a video showing the motion of the horse.

It is ready to leave my stable and find a new home. It is ready to ride, recommended rider age 5-9 years old. Not to exceed 65 pounds.

This horse would also be perfect for a collector. Perhaps someone who has always loved horses, and rocking horses, and apprecIates the beauty of a rocking horse as a conversation piece, displayed in the house.

Total length of stand: 53 inches
Total width of stand: 18 inches
Height from floor to top of ears: 42 inches

Hi, thank you to everyone who has liked this page recently! I know I've been pretty quiet, I just haven't had time to do much of anything with the rocking horses lately! :-)

Tonight I dismantled the stand (needs to be cleaned up and refinished). I removed the horse from the stand, removed the mane and tail (neither will be reused) and removed all the tack. Even scarier looking now!

Post-1960 Collinson.
As it looked when I purchased it.

Date: post 1960
Maker: Collinson, England

I got this one in December of 2014 from a thrift store in Medford, Oregon. I'd actually been really wanting a Collinson horse to practice on.

This is small compared to some of the others I have right now! It is structurally in good sturdy shape. There is a fair amount of cracking a lot of chipped off paint. All the tack needs to be replaced. It needs new hair.

As a non-antique, I am not bound by any "rules" as to what color it should be, and it will certainly not have this paint job redone!

Length of stand: 4 feet
Width of stand: 1 foot 4 inches

Height of horse itself: 2 feet 6.5 inches

I purchased this in the Bay Area in October of 2014. It was made in Australia by a friend of the previous owner. She was selling it because her kids outgrew it.

This is a BEAUTIFUL and very heavy horse in excellent condition. It needs new tack, could use more hair, and I am inclined to paint it. There are minor cracks on the body, and that would allow me to repair the cracks.

This is an absolute beauty that I picked up in October of 2014 in the Bay Area. The previous owner had hoped to restore it, but ended up needing to downsize, so she did not do anything do it. It was in this condition when she purchased it.

This horse is not currently attached to the stand.

It has been stripped to bare wood, possibly waxed? The stand shows traces of green paint. This horse needs significant repair work:

The stand wobbles a bit, the top rail is very loose.
The left rear leg wobbles and is held in place mainly by being attached to the side rail. A large chunk of the leg will need to be replaced. This horse is NOT in rideable condition due to the damaged leg.

There is some thought of letting this one be "as is" bare wood, though the repairs may alter that look significantly. Otherwise... new paint, new tack, new hair. I do have the tail, it's black. It's just not pictured.

Height of horse itself: 2 feet 9.5 inches
Length of horse itself: 3 feet 11.5 inches

I purchased this in September of 2014. The previous owner had owned it since the mid 1980s. She has the rocker re-made as the original rocker was rotten. This rocker, while the correct shape, is poorly made and does not even rock. It will need to be remade.

The horse was bare wood when the previous owner bought it. She gave it a single coat of latex paint. The mane and tail are not original. the mane is poorly attached, the tail comes out. The ears have been poorly restored. One foot needs fixing or replacing.

Over all remarkably sound. VERY large, VERY heavy.

Length of rocker: 7 feet 3.5 inches
Width of rocker: 1 foot 10 inches

Height of horse itself: 3 feet 1 inch
Length of horse itself: 4 feet 10 inches

I picked up this little cutie down in Fresno on my way back from a knifemaking event in Tulare. Sometimes the timing just comes out perfectly! As far as I can tell, this is a home-made copy of a commercially produced horse (the commercial horse was made in the early 1980s). It's interestingly constructed, it's screwed together with metal brackets (not visible in a side-view) rather than than all the parts being directly glued together. It needs minor structural work (a little glue, a little filler, a few things tightened) but is in good sturdy shape. It needs paint, new hair, and the saddle needs to be re-covered (or re-made, we'll see) and repositioned. This horse is SMALL, definitely toddler-size.

This is a restored/refurbished rocking horse of unknown age. I would guess it was made in the 1980s or 1990s. I do not know who made it. Structural and cosmetic repairs were made, and it has been completely refinished to resemble a buckskin horse with western tack. I love bringing these old beat up rocking horses back to life, a brand new life!

Painted with several coats of latex paint, finished with several coats of clear gloss polycrylic varnish.

Saddle, bridle, ears are all leather. The reins are braided nylon. I hand-made the bridle to resemble a traditional western bosal. The mane and tail are hand-stitched yarn.

Restored with love, better than the original! :-) ♥

I bought this horse from the original owner, it was made in the early 1990s. It needed some cosmetic repairs but was structurally sound. I don't have the specs on this, it's shorter (length) and wider than Horse #2, but about the same height.

This one belongs to my niece, and is not for sale. ♥
