Good afternoon everyone, first we want to thank you for all the donations everyone has brought to be delivered to Avoyelles Parish. With that being said, we plan on carrying everything down on Monday June 29th. We want to give everyone a chance to still donate if you have not yet. We will still be accepting donations being dropped off at the station until Friday evening! This gives us time to get everything set up over the weekend to be delivered on Monday. Once again thank you to everyone! It is great to see the community come together when people need it the most!

🌧️ Winn Parish Drought Update 🌧️

We have some great news to share regarding the current drought conditions in Winn Parish.

According to the latest drought map, 67% of Winn Parish has improved to D2 Severe Drought conditions. πŸ™Œ

The current map does not include the rainfall we are receiving now, so we are hopeful we will see even more improvement in next week’s update. 🌦️

If you prayed for rain β€” thank you. πŸ™

While we have not received anywhere near the amount of rainfall needed to fully overcome our rainfall deficit, this rain will certainly help put us in a better position as we move toward summer. β˜€οΈ

Please continue to use caution with any outdoor burning or activities that could spark a fire. πŸ”₯🚫

πŸ”₯ Drought Update πŸ”₯

There is some good news to report regarding drought conditions across Louisiana. 🌧️ The northern portion of the state did see a downward trend in drought severity. Last week, 43.69% of Louisiana was experiencing D3 (Extreme) drought conditions. That number has now decreased to 29.41%. πŸ“‰ This is great news for the state as a whole.

However, Winn Parish is still experiencing 100% D3 drought conditions. ⚠️

WPFD #3 saw the effects of these conditions yesterday afternoon when crews were dispatched to a small brush fire and a large dead tree that was actively burning. 🌲πŸ”₯ It is believed that the fire may have started from a large brush pile burning across the roadway, although there is no certainty. It appears that the wind may have carried fire brands aloft across the road, landing on the dead tree and igniting it. πŸ’¨πŸ”₯

This incident illustrates just how dry conditions still are across our area. Please continue to use extreme caution with any outdoor burning. πŸš’

πŸ”₯πŸš’ It’s Home Fire Sprinkler Week! πŸš’πŸ”₯

Did you know that home fire sprinklers can reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by about 90%? These systems respond quickly, often controlling or extinguishing a fire before firefighters even arrive β€” giving families valuable time to escape safely.

Modern home fire sprinklers are:
βœ… Fast-acting
βœ… Reliable
βœ… Designed to protect lives and property
βœ… Activated individually β€” not all at once

Fire can spread in less than 2 minutes. A home fire sprinkler system helps provide peace of mind when every second counts.

This week, help us spread awareness about the importance of residential fire sprinklers and fire-safe homes. Together, we can save lives.
