Recent winter storms caused significant damage across parts of North Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama, especially in pine plantations.

In this video, Beau walks through what that damage means for landowners moving forward.
With so much fuel now on the ground and dead trees, using prescribed fire as a management tool will become much more difficult in many areas. Some landowners may still have a short window over the next few weeks to safely utilize fire, but in many cases aerial herbicide application may become the most practical option to manage the heavy understory growth that will follow.

If your property was affected by the storm, understanding your management options now can make a big difference long term.

Prescribed fire is in full swing, and our team has been on the ground across Mississippi helping landowners put it to work. Dormant season burns are a great way to improve turkey habitat and reset the understory for spring.

Do you have a burn planned this year? 🔥

The Steward Link team was on the road last week, attending conservation-focused events across the country.

Nick Thomas participated in the Annual Caucus Leadership Dinner in Washington, DC, where he networked and discussed today’s conservation challenges and the solutions we believe can move us forward.

Myles Elsen, our Conservation Specialist in MN and WI, served as a keynote speaker on the I-90 Soil Health Tour, sharing practical ways to improve soil health, boost yields, and protect water quality.

Weston Thompson, our Head of Conservation Planning, joined the at their annual Farmer Roundtable in Wisconsin, where producers connected, shared ideas, and learned from industry leaders.

We’re proud to be part of these conversations and committed to supporting better land stewardship wherever we go!
