🏢 Open enrollment season is here — and your workplace life insurance probably isn't enough.

Workplace life insurance sales rebounded 7% in the first half of 2026, with $2.9 billion in new premiums, according to LIMRA — a sharp turnaround from last year's declines.

But here's what most people miss: employer coverage is often just 1–2x your salary, and it usually doesn't follow you when you change jobs.

A workplace plan is a good start. It's rarely the whole answer. A personal policy you own fills the gap — no matter where you work.

💼 Nearly $17 billion in life insurance and annuity benefits had to be tracked down.

NAIC's free Policy Locator has matched more than 780,000 searches — over $16.9 billion through July — often because families couldn't find a policy or didn't know one existed.

📋 Your will says one thing. Your beneficiary form says another. Guess which one wins?

The beneficiary form. Every time.

If you updated your will after a divorce, a new marriage, or a falling-out — but never updated the beneficiary on your life insurance — the money goes to the person on the form, not the person in the will.

👶 If something happened to you tomorrow, would your kids get a check?

Minor children can't legally receive a large payout directly. Without a trust named as beneficiary, a court decides who manages the money — and when your kids get it.

A trust lets you set the terms: who manages it, what it's for, and at what age they receive it.

If the family home, business, or farm goes to one child, life insurance can equalize the inheritance — the other child gets the cash value, and nobody has to force a sale.

💙 Breast cancer isn't only a women's issue.

Oct 17–23 is Men's Breast Cancer Awareness Week. About 2,670 men in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer each year — and because many men don't expect it, it can be found later.

Men have breast tissue too. A new lump, a change in shape, a ni**le change, or discharge is worth getting checked promptly — don't wait it out.

A serious diagnosis shouldn't also mean financial confusion. A coverage review can help your family know where you stand.
