Confidence starts the moment you open your mouth.

Knowing how to introduce yourself with poise is a superpower. It sets the tone for every room you enter.

Here are 3 tips for an elegant introduction:

1. Maintain soft but steady eye contact.

2. Offer a firm, intentional handshake (or a graceful nod).

3. State your name clearly—never rush your own identity.

Which of these do you struggle with most? Let’s chat in the comments! 👇🏾

Sis, survival mode may have helped you get through a difficult season—but you were never meant to live there forever.

If you’re ready to move from surviving to becoming, start here:

1. Slow down.
You don’t have to rush through every day. Give yourself permission to breathe, rest, and be present.

2. Relearn your basic needs.
Eat. Sleep. Hydrate. Take a shower. Get dressed. Clean your space. Sometimes getting your life back starts with the simplest things.

3. Create routines that make you feel safe.
A morning routine, evening routine, prayer time, weekly reset—structure can help you feel grounded again.

4. Stop operating from constant urgency.
Not everything is an emergency. Learn to pause before reacting, responding, or making decisions.

5. Make room for joy.
Survival mode teaches you to focus only on what needs fixing. Start intentionally doing things simply because they make you happy.

6. Start envisioning your life beyond survival.
Ask yourself: Who am I becoming when I no longer have to fight just to get through the day?

You deserve a life that feels peaceful, feminine, intentional, and full—not just a life you’re trying to survive.

You are allowed to come out of survival mode. You are allowed to live again.

Etiquette Is a Life Skill, Not a Performance 🌸

Etiquette is not about pretending to be perfect.

It’s not about knowing every fancy rule, having the “right” accent, or making other women feel like they aren’t good enough.

Etiquette is a life skill.

It teaches you how to carry yourself with confidence, consideration, and self-respect. It helps you navigate a dinner table, a workplace, a networking event, a difficult conversation, or a room full of people you’ve never met.

As a woman, knowing how to communicate, listen, introduce yourself, set boundaries, show respect, and conduct yourself with grace can open doors that talent alone sometimes cannot.

And here’s the beautiful part: you don’t have to be perfect to be polished.

You are allowed to learn.
You are allowed to make mistakes.
You are allowed to grow.

Etiquette isn’t about becoming someone else.

It’s about developing the skills that help you become the best version of yourself. 🎀

Yes — for polished table manners, a good rule is:

* Wrist: Rest your wrist lightly on the edge of the table when you’re not using your hands.

* Hands: Keep your hands relaxed and visible rather than hidden in your lap.

* Elbows: Keep your elbows off the table while eating.

* Between courses/conversation: It’s generally acceptable to rest your forearms or elbows lightly on the table, depending on the formality of the setting.

* Posture: Sit upright, keep your shoulders relaxed, and bring the food to you rather than leaning toward your plate.

For a Black & Dainty etiquette lesson, I’d phrase the key rule as: “Wrists may rest. Elbows stay off.”

Shame Is Not Your Identity.

As women, we can carry shame for things we did, things that happened to us, relationships we stayed in, mistakes we made, choices we regret, or versions of ourselves we’ve outgrown.

But here’s the truth: shame will keep you emotionally attached to a woman you are no longer meant to be.

Shame whispers:
“You should have known better.”
“You’re not worthy.”
“People will judge you.”
“You don’t deserve better.”
“Who are you to become that woman?”

And when you believe those whispers, you begin to shrink.

You stop showing up.
You stop taking risks.
You stop caring for yourself.
You tolerate things beneath your standards.
You hide instead of heal.
You apologize for becoming more confident, feminine, disciplined, successful, and intentional.

But an elevated woman understands that growth requires releasing the shame attached to her past.

You can acknowledge what happened without allowing it to define you.

You can take accountability without punishing yourself forever.

You can learn from your mistakes without making your mistakes your identity.

You can forgive yourself for not knowing then what you know now.

And most importantly, you can become a new woman without asking your old self for permission.

Your past may be part of your story, but it does not have to be the ceiling of your future.

Release the shame.

Heal the woman.

Raise your standards.

Reclaim your identity.

Become HER.

The elevated woman isn’t perfect.

She is self-aware, healed, intentional, and no longer allowing shame to dictate how she shows up in the world.

There is beauty in doing things gracefully.

Even something as simple as picking up an object can be an opportunity to practice poise, presence, and feminine elegance.

Grace isn’t about moving slowly or trying to look perfect. It’s about being intentional with the way you carry yourself. The way you bend, the way you stand, the way you move, and the way you treat your surroundings all communicate something about you.

Ladies, remember: elegance is in the details.

Move with intention.
Carry yourself with dignity.
Take your time.
And let your femininity show in the little things.

This is what we teach at Black & Dainty—because being a woman is not just about how you look. It’s about how you carry yourself.

There was a time I didn’t know what to say when someone I cared about lost a loved one.

I remember staring at my phone, typing and deleting the same message over and over again…
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
It felt empty. Distant. Inadequate.

And the truth is, I wasn’t trying to be cold—I just didn’t know how to show up.

That moment taught me something powerful:
Grace isn’t just how you carry yourself in rooms full of opportunity… it’s how you show up in moments of grief.

So I had to learn.

I had to learn how to offer comfort without centering myself.
How to speak with warmth instead of defaulting to clichés.
How to hold space for someone’s pain with softness, presence, and intention.

That’s why I created my video: How to Offer Condolences Gracefully.

Because too many women want to show up well… but no one ever taught us how.

In this video, I walk you through what to say, how to say it, and how to carry yourself with emotional intelligence and elegance—even in the most delicate moments.

Because being a refined woman isn’t just about how you look…
It’s about how you make people feel when they need you the most.

Watch the video and learn how to show up with grace when words matter most.
