There was a time I didn’t know what to say when someone I cared about lost a loved one.

I remember staring at my phone, typing and deleting the same message over and over again…
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
It felt empty. Distant. Inadequate.

And the truth is, I wasn’t trying to be cold—I just didn’t know how to show up.

That moment taught me something powerful:
Grace isn’t just how you carry yourself in rooms full of opportunity… it’s how you show up in moments of grief.

So I had to learn.

I had to learn how to offer comfort without centering myself.
How to speak with warmth instead of defaulting to clichés.
How to hold space for someone’s pain with softness, presence, and intention.

That’s why I created my video: How to Offer Condolences Gracefully.

Because too many women want to show up well… but no one ever taught us how.

In this video, I walk you through what to say, how to say it, and how to carry yourself with emotional intelligence and elegance—even in the most delicate moments.

Because being a refined woman isn’t just about how you look…
It’s about how you make people feel when they need you the most.

Watch the video and learn how to show up with grace when words matter most.

Exciting News for Families in the Winston-Salem Area!

Black & Dainty is now offering private etiquette coaching and group etiquette classes for girls in the Winston-Salem area.

In today’s world, many young girls are growing up without being intentionally taught the social skills that help them move through life with confidence, grace, and self-respect. Etiquette is more than knowing which fork to use at dinner—it’s about confidence, communication, self-awareness, and learning how to carry yourself with dignity in any room you enter.

At Black & Dainty, our etiquette services help girls develop:
• Polished social skills
• Proper dining etiquette
• Confidence in conversation
• Poise and graceful body language
• Respect for themselves and others

These lessons are especially powerful during the formative years when young girls are shaping their identity and learning how they want to show up in the world.

We offer both private sessions and group etiquette experiences designed to help girls grow into confident, well-mannered young women.

If you’re a parent, guardian, or organization in the Winston-Salem area who wants to invest in the personal development of the girls in your life, we would love to support you.

This season isn’t about more information—it’s about refinement.

I’m opening a limited number of private coaching spots this week through Black & Dainty for women ready to be seen, respected, and received differently.

If you feel the pull, message me “ELEVATE.”

Lately, my journal has been holding one simple sentence:

“I am open to receiving all that belongs to me.”

Not striving.
Not proving.
Not over-explaining my worth.

Just receiving.

For a long time, I was excellent at giving—my time, my care, my labor, my emotional energy. But when it came to receiving support, opportunities, rest, money, love, or recognition… I hesitated. I questioned whether I had earned it enough.

And I know I’m not alone.

So many Black and brown women were conditioned to survive, to be strong, to push through—often at the expense of allowing ourselves to receive what is already ours.

This season, I’m choosing something different.
I’m choosing openness.
I’m choosing softness without guilt.
I’m choosing to believe that I am worthy now, not later.

If you’re reading this and you’ve been shrinking your hands instead of opening them—this is your reminder: you are worthy to receive.
Not because you’re exhausted.
Not because you’ve suffered enough.
But because you exist.

May we all give ourselves permission to receive fully, freely, and without apology.
