First cold snap of the year is when the no-start calls start rolling in. Don't get stranded when its freezing.

Cold weather drains a battery's power at the same time your engine needs more of it to turn over. A battery that barely made it through October can leave you stuck in December.

Before you grab the jumper cables, take a quick look:

If the case is bulging or there's ice in the cells, don't jump it or charge it.

Look for white or green crust on the terminals, and make sure the clamps are tight.

Bright dash lights with just a click can mean a cable or starter problem, not the battery.
