Today kicks off Autism Awareness month!

And our family has two little ones on the ASD spectrum. When people think autism, a lot of times they think it's only something boys can have. Girls are often misdiagnosed, under diagnosed, or overlooked completely. For Giselle, it was misdiagnosed as part of her Down Syndrome for a long time. It wasn't until the age of 6 we were sure she has both Autism and Down Syndrome.

While holding Woody from Toy Story you climbed onto your horse Lucky & took off. I've been noticing these associations more & more. Playing with Dory when Finding Nemo is on the tv, running to your room to grab Arlo when The Good Dinosaur is on, & making sure you have Woody when you're riding your horse. There is an app on your sissy's ipad you like with Mr. Potato head. It's a game & he will shake all his pieces off & you have to slide them back on. You became obsessed with playing this game so I took a chance & ordered a Mr. Potato Head. YOU LOVE HIM! The even more amazing part is you play with him appropriately, meaning you try to put the hat on his head, the feet on his bottom, the eyes on his face. You're not a big toy kid so it makes me happy you love dragging him around the house to find his hat. This is a Ms. Potato Head I got for some extra fun.

38 | 366 - Minding Your Own Business

This post is more of a PSA. Disney recently put a ban on these wagon strollers UNLESS you have a medical need. The process of being able to bring them in takes explanations, and two different tags to show it's approved.

Having said that we receive the NASTIEST comments when we are in the park.

"I thought they banned those ugh!"
"What's the point of banning them if they're just going to let them in anyway?"
"Ugh they told us no that's not fair!"
"Must be nice to not have to follow the rules."

People, please. You can CLEARLY see a blue & red tag on the stroller, we didn't sneak it in. It's approved. Maybe spend more time enjoying your vacation & not so upset that someone was able to bring in a wagon. I'm not going to explain here why Sherlock needs this but he does & without it we wouldn't be able to go to the parks.

I feel sorry for people who let this bother them at the happiest place on earth. Just enjoy your vacation & remember it costs zero dollars to mind your own business.

One of the most go to & common stims I see you do is putting pressure either on your tragus or the pressure points behind your ear. It doesn't necessarily mean something is too loud, you do it when you're excited too. It's just a way for you to feel a stimulation that helps you calm down. I don't even really notice when you do it anymore, it's just part of your everyday.

Daisy likes to play fetch & recently you have figured out how to throw the ball for her. You hold it up super high over your head so she can't sneak it from your hand & then chuck it has hard as you can. It's been great because she has stopped bugging me when I sit down on the couch because she knows you will throw it. You're not afraid to get the ball out of her mouth either. You two are forming an awesome friendship.

There was a little girl & her mom in the aisle with us picking out cards. She must have been 4-5 years old. Her mom kept asking her which ones she wanted & after what had to be the hardest decision of her life she settled on LOL doll valentine's and they walked away. It was so cute & I got so excited. I turned to you, "Sherlock which cards do you want buddy?" But you didn't look up. It was just a second but I forgot for just a second. I forgot you aren't going to answer me, not yet. But that's okay. I saw a box with Snoopy on it. You love Snoopy.

Uncle Patrick brought you a cardboard box to play in. After multiple yoga style positions you climbed out & started doing laps around the box before diving in.
