During a recent visit to Hudson Manor Assisted Living, LPS Healthcare Solutions CEO Brooke Schaefer took time to walk the community with Administrator Audrey Walker, looking at everything from lighting and finishes in the salon to opportunities for reimagining underutilized spaces.

That attention to detail comes from experience. Brooke isn’t simply looking for what needs to be fixed. She’s asking, “How can we make this better for the people who live here?”

Some residents stay with you long after they’re gone. ❤️

For Brooke, that person was Olive.

Brooke first met Olive as a teenager in her dad’s building. She had fire-engine red hair, a Southern accent, and a wheelchair she affectionately called her “boyfriend,” usually with two Dr Peppers riding along on the seat.

Before Brooke left for Kentucky, Olive even told her exactly which horse to cheer for. Brooke listened. That horse won.

Not long after Brooke returned home, she was with Olive in the room when Olive passed away.

She has never forgotten her.

Olive was more than a resident. She was one of the people who shaped the way Brooke sees senior living, relationships, dignity, and care. Her story is part of the reason Brooke does what she does today.

Because this work has never just been about buildings, beds, or services.

It’s about people.
It’s about the stories they carry.
And it’s about making sure they know they matter.
