You don't need to have expensive equipment to produce stunning photographs. I took this picture when I was just starting my photography journey with my first digital DSLR; I used my entry-level Canon T2i with the kit lens at 18mm, and a single AB800 through an umbrella. It was part of a free photo-shoot with friends.

This is my most viewed image on Flickr, and it placed 279 out of 11,426 entries from professional photographers around the world.

Even though I am constantly upgrading my gear over the years, I do it only to push my art further and to give my clients the best service and products possible. So don't think that you need expensive equipment to get started; it is the person behind the camera who does all the cool work!
