Jim Leusner Consulting is a unique and innovative private investigation, research and media services company. After nearly 30 years as an Orlando Sentinel reporter investigating the criminal justice system, business and land development, space shuttle disasters, sports scandals, government corruption, defense,
terrorism and homeland security, Jim Leusner decided to launch his own company in 2008. JLC is a licensed and insured private investigation agency handling only civil cases, research and other matters including due diligence, background, witnesses locating, asset and social media investigations. A licensed private investigator since 1996, Leusner is a Florida Board Certified Investigator, as recognized by the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators. (There are 7,000 active PIs in Florida. Only 47 are board certified.) He is a longtime instructor on public records, investigations and news reporting to media groups, lawyer organizations, universities, law enforcement and private investigators. JLC specializes in Central Florida and statewide investigations, but also works nationwide. The firm also performs various media services such as freelance writing, editing, training, research and investigative reporting. Leusner is an award-winning investigative reporter whose stories have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times, Washington Post and dozens of other newspapers. He has written and/or contributed to Orlando magazine; WFTV-Channel 9 in Orlando; other national and international media publications; and several books and television documentaries. Memberships include FALI; the California Association of Licensed Investigators; Texas Association of Licensed Investigators; Association of Former Intelligence Officers; National Military Intelligence Association; Naval Intelligence Professionals; Investigative Reporters & Editors Inc. and the National Press Club. He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Journalism.
