We ♥️ Pal!
Pal’s Park - Wisconsin Rapids
Who’s Pal?
I’m also known as Allison… but Pal is a nickname from my dad — went from Allie-cat, to Allie-pal, Al-pal, then just Pal. Born and raised in the area, I graduated from Assumption in 2008.
The mountains and wide-open spaces called, and I only applied to one college, the University of Montana. After graduation, I didn’t want to come home just yet, so I spent 4 more years working seasonally - the winter season in Big Sky, MT as a children’s ski instructor, the summer at Camp Manito-wish YMCA, leading sea kayaking trips for teenagers, and the fall season harvesting cranberries.
I knew working seasonally wasn’t going to last forever, and 2015 ended up being a pivotal year - I tore my ACL and met my now husband, Alex. One more winter skiing, one more summer up north, but I always knew that I’d come back to Rapids to raise a family. These days, you can find me at Honestly Cranberry where we dry cranberries without sugar or oil.
I’m grateful all these experiences have led me/us to Pal’s Park. Emmy, our 4 year old, is our main inspiration, but my parents and grandparents are huge inspirations as well. They believe(d) in showing up and investing in the community. If you know my mom, she has some great one-liners and life lessons. One that comes to mind specifically: “don’t complain, unless you’re willing to do something about it.” …nothing for kids to do around here?? Well, let’s do something about it! 😉
