This one meant a lot….

A good friend who is a Department of Corrections official reached out this week to share something that stopped me in my tracks. After watching our recent content on leading without your title, he took it straight to his leadership group, and added his own layer to it.

His words: "Sharing some follow up I do with my leadership group after listening to your videos. Keep up the great work."

The question he posed to his team? Whether they're coming to work each day to just show up, or coming to work and actually caring about the work they do. And whether a peer would answer that question the same way they would.

That's leadership development happening in real time, inside one of the toughest leadership environments there is.

This is exactly why we do this work. When content moves from a screen into a real conversation with a real team…..that's the whole point.

Great to hear about the recent Tactical Strength and Readiness symposium that Kurt was heavily involved in, and presented at, put on by Mid-State Technical College and Advanced Tactical Medicine. The importance of mental and physical health for leaders is something that Kurt and I have been talking about for a long time over many a cup of coffee. Today’s ‘Connection Over Coffee’ was with Gus Mancuso! Gus has been a fixture in Wisconsin Rapids community for nearly 5 decades in a variety of roles - Former Lincoln High School Principal, Football Coach (still actively involved), served on numerous boards, facilitated Advanced Leadership sessions across the the community…just to name a few things. We had a fantastic conversation about Leadership, Athletics, Leadership in Athletics, and developing athletes into leaders - really energizing, so we’ll see where it all goes 👍.
