When you lead with price, the talk stops at “cheap” or “expensive.”

When you lead with value, the talk shifts to outcomes:
- What problem do you solve?
- How do you make life easier?
- What support do people get?

Price matters, but value builds trust, loyalty, and referrals. Next time someone asks, “How much is it?” try starting with, “Here’s what you get and how it helps you,” then share the number.

📈 **Polyethylene pricing may be changing direction again.**

After two months of declining North American PE prices, Plastics News is reporting that the market could see a rebound in August as inventories tighten and export demand strengthens.

For manufacturers purchasing molded plastic components, this is a good reminder that **resin markets rarely move in a straight line.**

Material pricing is only one component of part cost, but changes upstream can quickly work their way through forecasts, sourcing decisions and future program economics.

That makes this a good time for purchasing and engineering teams to look beyond today's piece price and ask a few broader questions:

🔹 Are our resin assumptions still current?
🔹 Are we designing and sourcing with enough flexibility to respond to market changes?
🔹 Could DFM, material evaluation or process optimization create opportunities to offset cost elsewhere?
🔹 Are there opportunities to consolidate molding and secondary operations to reduce total manufacturing cost?

The most important manufacturing question isn’t:

“Can we build it?”

It’s:

“Can we build it consistently, document the process and scale it without compromising performance?”

In medical-device and diagnostic manufacturing, production risk often develops through a series of small decisions:

• Tight or conflicting tolerances
• Material and process compatibility
• Component handling during assembly
• Inspection accessibility
• Supplier variability
• Work instructions that leave room for interpretation

None of these issues may appear significant on their own. Together, they can affect yield, validation timelines and production scalability.

That is why manufacturing input is most valuable before the design is considered complete.

A contract manufacturing partner should do more than execute a drawing. The right partner helps translate design intent into a controlled, repeatable assembly process.
