Last week during the Farm Bureau Membership Appreciation dinner at the Harrison County Fair, Abe was presented with their "Distinguished Service to Agriculture" Award. Thank you, Harrison County Farm Bureau for this award and recognition of Abe!

Over the past two decades, Abe has led Natural Fertilizer Services with a vision of helping livestock producers, crop farmers, food processors, and communities recover valuable nutrients and return them to the land. His work has transformed organic byproducts into valuable agricultural resources that improve soil health, enhance nutrient cycling, and support long-term agricultural productivity.

One of Abe's most notable accomplishments is his leadership in developing the WINR (Waste Into Nutrient Recovery) Center in Woodbine. This innovative project converts livestock manure, food processing byproducts, yard waste, and other organic materials into valuable soil amendments, promoting soil health, supporting domestic fertilizer independence, and creating economic opportunities for rural communities. 🌎♻️

Abe's career began as a soil conservationist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and his commitment to agriculture has continued to grow. Under his leadership, Natural Fertilizer Services has expanded from a one-person operation into a thriving business employing more than 30 people and serving agricultural partners across the region.

✔ Operate agricultural and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
✔ Drive Class A CDL trucks to transport materials and equipment.

✔ Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.

Holds a valid Class A CDL (or is willing to obtain one).

Mark your calendars — the WINR Center is opening its doors.

For months we've been talking about what it looks like when nutrients stop going to waste and start going back to work. Now you can come see it for yourself.

Join us Friday, July 31st at 3 PM for the Grand Opening of the WINR Center at 3173 220th St., Woodbine, IA.

This is more than a ribbon cutting — it's a look at the infrastructure behind a simple idea: what if the waste streams from our food processors, our communities, and our livestock operations weren't waste at all? What if they were the next season's fertility, headed back to the farms that need it?

Planting depth matters more than you may realize.

The corn plant on the left was planted too shallow - resulting in weaker root development and reduced stability. The plant on the right was planted at the correct depth, allowing for stronger nodal roots, better nutrient uptake, and improved yield potential.

A small adjustment can make a big difference at harvest.

You sprayed once, then twice, and the weeds are still standing. The herbicide didn't fail you, your water did. When your spray water sits at a high pH, the calcium in it wraps around the herbicide molecule before it ever reaches the plant. You mixed expensive water and called it a day.

We get into two things here. First is gypsum, what it actually does to your soil, why high magnesium locks your ground up tight as concrete, and why your soil test can show plenty of calcium and still have none available for your crop.

Second is spray water pH, how to test it, how to lower it, and why a coffee can of citric acid in a thousand gallon tank can save you an entire extra pass across the field.

There's a live demo in here too. Watch the pH drop in real time with barely a pinch of citric acid. Once you see it you'll never skip the water test again.
