Dr. Paul Lowe, BS/MD Admissions Advisors – Announces Brown PLME: Early Decision Results 2025

It’s January 2026 and all of our client Early Decision results are in for Brown PLME. This year, we have had an increased number of clients applying to direct BS/MD programs. Few of our clients, by their choice, decided to apply to Brown Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) because they felt that ED may be too restrictive. We respect our clients’ choices! We congratulate those who decided to apply ED!

Brown University Office of Admission reported that 23 students were admitted to PLME Early Decision.

We are happy to report Dr. Lowe and his team’s results. Here are the results of our 14 clients who applied to Brown PLME Early Decision:

• 5 were accepted to the College and PLME
• 6 were accepted to the College and deferred from PLME to regular decision
• 3 were admitted to the College and rejected from Brown PLME

What does this mean to Dr. Lowe and his team?
This means that 21% of the admitted Brown PLME Early Decision are Dr. Lowe’s clients!

Congratulations to our clients who are now future medical doctors!

2024 Best BS/MD Program: Brown PLME

BROWN UNIVERSITY’S PROGRAM IN LIBERAL MEDICAL EDUCATION (PLME)

For 2024, Brown is indisputably the BEST BS/MD program.

Brown’s Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) is the only Ivy League – BS/MD program. On the undergraduate side, through its Open Curriculum, it allows students the academic freedom to enroll in the courses that interest them rather than a “premed curriculum” PLME also does not require its students to take the MCAT. PLME students can participate in several international exchange programs around the world. PLME is also one of the few BS/MD programs that accepts H4 visa and international students.

PLME students may choose any one of the nearly 100 departmental and interdepartmental concentration programs offered at the University. PLME students complete a four-year undergraduate program by receiving a A.B. or Sc.B. degree. Students can then proceed directly to Brown’s Warren Alpert Medical School. Alpert Medical School, one of the nation’s top medical schools, offers several M.D. dual-degree programs, including M.D./Ph.D., M.D./M.P.H., M.D./M.P.P. and M.D./M.P.A. programs.

What makes Brown University PLME the top and most prestigious BS/MD program?
• Ivy League
• Open Curriculum
• No MCAT requirement
• Accepts H4 visa and international students

At BS/MD Admissions Advisors, Dr. Paul Lowe knows Brown! Unlike other educational consultants, he constantly visits Brown and understands the nuances and changes in its admission policies. Year after year, his clients are accepted to Brown PLME.

Unlike other educational consulting firms, where clients are assigned to different employees or consultants, Dr. Lowe, as lead consultant/admissions advisor, personally works with each of his clients so that they directly benefit from his expertise, experience, contacts and the collective knowledge of his educational team.

Dr. Lowe’s exclusivity allows him to provide individualized attention, commitment and principal availability to each client. Track record – 28 years of client acceptances to Brown PLME

What BS/MD Programs Mean to Many of Dr. Lowe’s Clients

For parents of my clients who immigrated to the US, higher education is a symbol of upward mobility, a life-altering path to meaningful careers and financial stability. A medical degree, specifically one obtained through a direct BS/MD program, is a definitive path to becoming a medical doctor.

“The future depends on what you do today.” – Mahatma Gandhi

For many of my client-families, education is an important means to achieve the four aims of human life, namely dharma (virtue), artha (wealth), k**a (pleasure) and moksha (liberation). Vidya or education is the means by which an individual can gain the right knowledge, control his desires and learn to perform his obligatory duties.

Dr. Paul Lowe and his team of admissions experts help many of his clients successfully attain this career track while in high school through BS/MD Admissions Advisors. It is one of the reasons why he has been in practice for 28 years.

For H-4 high school students, this means that they will be U.S. medical doctors – an immigration benefit, in addition to the job security.

“As an admissions expert, I am always cognizant of the unforeseen circumstances and unfavorable consequences that may adversely affect my clients’ positive outcomes. Because of our vigilance and comprehensive strategies, my clients are ACCEPTED into BS/MD programs as well as Ivy League and competitive colleges and universities with superior pre-med programs.” – Dr. Paul Lowe

How Does Dr. Lowe Help His Clients Achieve Admissions Success?

As a Jamaican-born (U.S. raised), Black Ivy-trained physician-scientist, entrepreneur, educator, musician and farmer, my understanding of the use of knowledge networks, empirical analytics, economics, and history, the focus on excellence, the embracing of a trusted and supportive tribe, and confidence in who you are, I believe, are catalytic elements that help you successfully navigate seemingly insurmountable challenges which are continuous, and at times, camouflaged and indiscernible...but always the norm.

Being different and understanding differences help my U. S. as well as international clients stand out and get accepted to top U.S. boarding schools, Ivy League and highly selective colleges and universities, BS/MD programs and medical schools.

Congratulations to Our Clients - Accepted Early Decision/Brown PLME

Last week, Brown University admitted 898 students out of the pool of 6,244 early decision applicants to become the first members of the undergraduate class of 2028. I am happy to report that several of the 898 admitted students are our clients!

And some are PLME! Congratulations!

Here are our acceptance rate/results for Brown PLME of the 10 clients who applied early decision:

Congratulations to Our Clients - Albany Medical College Application Notifications

Congratulations to our clients who have received secondary applications from Albany Medical College!

What does this mean regarding the Application Process: Rensselaer reviewed their Common Applications (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute/Albany Medical College - Accelerated Physician-Scientist Combined BS/MD Program) and now has referred them, as qualified students, to Albany Medical College (AMC), which will then review the secondary applications and reach out to certain students for an interview (in January, February, or March).

From that pool of students, AMC will make offers of admission to the program. The application process is lengthy and notification begins in early April.

For our clients, in this highly selective process, it's one step closer to being accepted into a top direct combined BS/MD program and the goal of becoming medical doctors!

Brown University Changes in Essay Requirements Following SCOTUS Affirmative Action Ruling

Brown University has changed its essay requirements for high school seniors applying for admission following the Supreme Court affirmative action ruling on the Common Application 2023-2024, requiring applicants to answer ten questions instead of the six questions previously.

The changes include the new PLME question: “Committing to a future career as a physician while in high school requires careful consideration and self-reflection. Explain your personal motivation to pursue a career in medicine.”

Previously there were 3 questions in the Writing Supplemental portion. Now there are seven! Here are the six new questions which were added:

1. Brown's Open Curriculum allows students to explore broadly while also diving deeply into their academic pursuits. Tell us about any academic interests that excite you, and how you might pursue them at Brown.
2. Students entering Brown often find that making their home on College Hill naturally invites reflection on where they came from. Share how an aspect of your growing up has inspired or challenged you, and what unique contributions this might allow you to make to the Brown community.
3. What three words best describe you?
4. What is your most meaningful extracurricular commitment, and what would you like us to know about it?
5. If you could teach a class on any one thing, whether academic or otherwise, what would it be?
6. In one sentence, Why Brown?

Imagine that after years of preparation, including 4 years of high school, all those AP classes, all the volunteering, all the summer programs, you answer one question incorrectly!!!!

WHAT’S THE RESULT: increase probability of mistakes and rejection for students who are unable to navigate essays and/or develop winning and convincing college admissions profiles. I predict that many top students, after years of hard work and without expert advice, will simply be rejected as failed applicants to Brown PLME…and Brown!

Dr. Lowe and his team have been and is currently participating in conferences and seminars with Ivy League and BS/MD program admissions officers regarding what colleges are doing with supplemental essays in response to the US Supreme Court decision prohibiting race-conscious affirmative action and how admissions officers are responding to it.

Dr. Lowe, therefore, is aware and possesses the cutting-edge and knowledge of what successful strategies students should use to write meaningful and convincing college essays to increase their chances of acceptance to Ivy League and BS/MD programs.

Common Application 2023-2024: New Supplemental Essays

The Common App 2023-2024 was launched on August 1. Many highly selective colleges, including the Ivies, have already revised or added supplemental questions which range from direct references to the Supreme Court decision to broader questions about an applicant’s cultural background and lived experiences.

Examples: This year, Harvard removed a previously optional essay prompt on its supplement and replaced it with five required short-answer questions. Brown University modified one of its PLME questions and now has seven Brown (the college) supplement questions rather than three the previous years.

What’s the result: increase probability of mistakes and rejection for students who are unable to navigate essays and their college admissions profiles. I predict that many top students, after years of hard work and without expert advice, will simply be rejected as failed applicants.

Dr. Lowe and his team have been and is currently participating in conferences and seminars with Ivy League and BS/MD program admissions officers regarding what colleges are doing with supplemental essays in response to the US Supreme Court decision prohibiting race-conscious affirmative action and how admissions officers are responding to it.

Supreme Court Case Effect on Competitive College Admissions and BS/MD Programs.

For almost 27 years, I have been writing about the changes and nuances in college admissions.

The Supreme Court’s ruling against Harvard University and University of North Carolina could lead to an admissions system that is even more subjective and mysterious, as colleges try to follow the law but also admit a diverse class of students. The Ivy League colleges and universities and BS/MD programs are aware that a diverse class leads the enhanced learning for alumni and future medical doctors.

Officials at some selective institutions have predicted that there would be less emphasis on standardized metrics like test scores and class rank, and more emphasis on personal qualities, told through recommendations and the application essay — the opposite of what many opponents of affirmative action had hoped for.

It would be nearly impossible, however, to eliminate any mention or suggestion of race in the admissions process — starting with applicants’ names. What is certain is that admissions committees can surmise in many cases based on years of reviewing applications and technology, an applicant’s race, cultural background and socio-economic caste.

Additionally, “Landscape”, developed by the College Board, is a tool meant to help admissions offices go beyond test scores and GPAs and considers what applicant have achieved in the context of where they’ve learned and lived.

Another factor that will affect admissions – review of legacy admissions. Applicants whose siblings were admitted will now face admissions committees that will not factor in the legacy component.

What do the above changes mean for the college admissions environment for high school classes: 2024, 2025 and 2026?
