The 2021 report makes it clear that the workplace is still worse for women of color. Women of color continue to face significant bias and discrimination at work. They are experiencing similar types of , at similar relative frequencies, as they were in 2019.

While all women are more likely than men to face microaggressions that undermine them professionally, women of color experience them at a higher rate. And these experiences take a heavy toll as women who experience microaggressions are more likely to be burned out and say they’ve struggled to concentrate at work in the past few months due to stress.

In addition, we continue to see a troubling gap: white employees consider themselves allies to women of color at work, but less than half take basic actions such as speaking out against bias or advocating for new opportunities for women of color. This points to the critical need for businesses to equip employees at all levels to challenge bias and show up as allies.
