My best business relationships didn’t start with a post.
They started in my DMs, on connection calls, or by walking up to someone at an event and introducing myself.
Case in point: last week at the Statewide Hispanic CoC Health & Wellness Fair. In one room, I:
→ Caught up with an existing client (I DMed her in June, met her in person in July, and we started working together in August)
→ Continued conversations with a potential client
→ Set an in-person coffee date with a mentor
→ Reconnected with my contact for a contract I’m pursuing
→ Got insights on a government RFP that could mean an 18-month contract
So does content still matter? Yup. It matters more than ever. But for different reasons than most people think.
When I meet people in person, I sometimes get feedback like:
“I saw your video” and “I love your content.”
One person said, “Teach me how to show up like that.”
My content didn’t start those relationships. It gave people context on what I do and a peek into how I do it.
That’s the role content plays in my marketing mix.
It won’t replace the relationship building piece, but it does warm it up before we ever shake hands.
Is your content warming up your relationships, or just filling your feed?

Thank you to the Statewide Hispanic CoC leadership and team for curating rooms like this one, where relationships turn into opportunities.
