I’m reminded of how people must feel with me as their Personal Trainer when I do activities with Matt 😄Went on a 17 mile bike ride together which doesn’t sound bad except part of it was mountain biking (first time and tougher than I thought) and oh yeah, we live in Colorado. So many hills… so little training for 8 miles to be all uphill against the strong wind that blew... Meanwhile, Matt was having such a good time, he didn’t realize I was actually riding a struggle bus rather than a bike. Anyways, I have come to have more compassion for clients through such humbling experiences. Colorado never fails to test my cardio ability.

FINALLY REACHED MY HIP THRUST MACHINE GOAL OF 360LBS FOR 12 REPS! I remember when 180lbs was difficult for me back in November. Slowly but surely I have been strengthening my glutes without putting on any extra body fat.

A bit late on posting this but I hiked my second 14er, La Plata peak. 4500 ft of elevation gain and 9.25 miles round trip. Fifth highest 14er in Colorado at 14,343 ft tall. About 43% less oxygen at the peak than sea level 😳.

I saw my first super cute pika (shown in the video)!

As always, Matthew was super patient with me when I got irritable. Especially when we got to the top where my brain was getting way less oxygen and I was sick of climbing rocks. Oh, and as we hiked back in pitch black darkness for the last hour or so (luckily we had headlamps).

I have a love hate relationship with these 14ers. They are definitely NOT for the faint of heart.

REMINDER FOR WOMEN:
Lifting heavy weights does NOT make you bulky. Don’t be afraid to lift heavy with proper form!!!
For lunges (and other exercises 🤪), I’m in the elite category for females lifting heavy. I know other women who are too and we are pretty lean, not bulky.
When women are afraid of becoming bulky, typically one of two images come to mind:
1. Women who are actually fat and can lift heavy. People with more fat are typically just strong. >>> Lifting didn’t make them fat, the food they ate did.
2. Women who look like men and can lift heavy because of steroids, or SUPER intense training and supplements and strict diets that you and I will never commit to. >>> This doesn’t happen by accident. These women are intentionally going for that look.

Lifting heavy is beneficial for women. You don’t have to push yourself as hard as I do, but can we PLEASE drop the 2 and 5lb dumbbells when we are capable of so much more??
