About the job:
Duties Include:
➡️ Develop, write and administer logging and silviculture contracts.
➡️ Perform harvest layout and permitting.
➡️ Write organized and informative technical reports such as timber management plans.
Education:
Typically requires a BA/BS in Forestry, Forest Management or Natural Resource Management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
➡️ Minimum of two-years experience working as a professional forester.
➡️ Requires professional knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of forestry including: silviculture, aerial photo analysis, pathology, entomology, ecology, and biological sciences as related to forestry.
➡️Required field experience and knowledge in the area of Forest Management Plans, forest inventory, timber harvest administration and silvicultural practices.
➡️Requires knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the management of forest resources
➡️Requires experience working with GIS to provide information needed to update maps regarding stand treatments, boundaries, stream locations and stream classification.
➡️Ability to contract with third parties to perform silviculture related services (herbicide spraying, reforestation, pre-commercial thinning) to meet specific objectives.
➡️Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects from initiation to completion in an efficient manner.
➡️ Ability to work alone in the outdoors over rough, brushy, and uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
➡️ Experience in log marketing and log accountability.
➡️ Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
➡️ Strong communication skills.
➡️ Provide advice and expertise to forest landowners.
