One of my favorite placenta prints I’ve gotten to do recently was create this beautiful “Tree of Life” placenta print for a new family 🌿🤍

The placenta grows alongside your baby for months! Nourishing, protecting, and sustaining life in such an incredible way. When you look at the vessels spread out like branches, it really does resemble a tree of life.

There’s something so meaningful about turning something that played such an important role in pregnancy into artwork a family can remember forever.

I’m always honored when families trust me with these special moments and keepsakes. ✨

I also offer placenta encapsulation + keepsakes for local families if you’ve been curious about learning more!

You don’t have to sit in appointments unsure of what’s happening or why.

So many moms tell me they didn’t even realize they could ask questions during prenatal visits—they just assumed things were “routine.”

But everything recommended to you is still a choice.

These 5 questions help slow things down so you can make informed decisions instead of rushed ones.

Save this for your next appointment—you deserve to feel clear, not confused

04/27/2026

In my first pregnancy, I didn’t always realize I had options.

I would sit in appointments, hear what was being recommended, and just assume I was supposed to go along with it—without really asking questions or slowing things down.

Half the time, I didn’t fully understand the reasoning behind what was happening. I just trusted that it was “what you’re supposed to do in pregnancy.”

But prenatal care is meant to be collaborative.

You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to understand your options.
And you are allowed to take time before making decisions about your body and your baby.

You are part of these decisions too. It’s your choice.

No one told me how confusing early labor could be.

With my second, I swore I was in active labor.
My contractions were intense… close together… I was so ready.

So I did what I thought I was supposed to do—
I called everyone.

Midwives, photographer, my mom… the whole team showed up.

And then… my labor stalled.

Looking back, it makes so much sense.
My adrenaline spiked. I felt watched. I couldn’t drop into that focused, inward space labor needs.

I always tell my clients now:

👉 When labor starts… ignore it.

I know that sounds crazy.
But staying relaxed, going about your day, and not rushing things can make a huge difference.

Your body knows what it’s doing.
Sometimes we just have to get out of the way.

This is exactly why understanding the stages of labor matters—
so you don’t panic too early or work against your body.

Which part of labor makes you the most nervous?

You’ve probably wondered…
“How will I know what stage of labor I’m in?”

Here’s the thing—labor doesn’t follow a perfect timeline.
But there is a general flow your body moves through.

Early labor → Active → Transition → Pushing → Placenta

Each stage feels different, serves a purpose, and calls for something different from you.

✨ Early labor → ignore it, rest, keep things normal
🔥 Active labor → focus, breathe, use your tools
⚡ Transition → surrender, one contraction at a time
👶 Pushing → follow your body
🌸 Placenta → rest, bond, soak it in

And remember…
There is no “perfect” labor. Yours will unfold in its own way. Learn more in my blog- Link in bio!

Save this so you can come back to it later 🤍

If you want to feel prepared instead of guessing your way through labor, I walk my clients through exactly what to do in each stage.

I didn’t fully understand this until my second labor…

My labor actually stalled for hours.

Looking back, I can see why:
I was in pain from a sinus headache
My contractions were intense early on
People arrived and I felt like I had to “host”
I felt watched instead of relaxed

And my body… paused.

It wasn’t until everyone left, I ate, and rested that things picked back up.

That’s when it clicked for me:
Labor isn’t just physical—it’s hormonal.

If your body doesn’t feel safe, supported, and calm…
those hormones don’t flow the same way.

This is why:
→ environment matters
→ support matters
→ preparation matters

You’re not just “waiting for labor to start”
Your body is working with your baby to begin it.

I shared a full blog explaining how labor actually starts + the hormone cascade behind it.

One of the biggest questions I hear is:
“How does labor start?”

And the truth is…
It’s not just your body deciding one day.

It’s a conversation between your baby, your body, and your hormones.

Your baby signals readiness
Your body increases oxytocin (contractions)
Your cervix softens with prostaglandins
Your endorphins rise to help you cope

And all of this works BEST when:
✔ you feel safe
✔ you feel supported
✔ you’re able to relax

Stress and fear?
They can actually slow this whole process down.

That’s why mindset, support, and environment matter more than most people realize.

I broke this all down in a new blog (super simple + easy to understand) ✨Link in bio

Looking back at this version of me…
I remember thinking I knew what to expect this time

But going from one baby to two still changed everything in ways I didn’t fully understand yet

It stretched me, grew me, and honestly showed me how much support matters—no matter how many babies you’ve had 🤍

This is a big part of why I do what I do now

If you’re pregnant (first baby or your fourth) and feeling unsure or overwhelmed, you don’t have to figure it all out alone

I also shared a third trimester checklist to help you feel more prepared (link in bio)
