It feels a little silly to be heartbroken over the loss of a celebrity I honestly hadn’t thought a ton about for about 20 years.
But a couple of years ago I saw James Van Der Beek post about his sickness & cancer in the realest social media video I’d seen from a celebrity, maybe ever, and my heart just broke for him and his family.
But the wisdom he gained and shared out of his experience was inspirational and I will never forget that video.
Fast forward to last year and the team at (my favorite industry conference) actually somehow got this guy to be one of the keynote speakers at CONNECT.
Being a Dawson’s Creek fan girl and getting to be in the room with him was maybe one of the highlights of my life / opportunities to be in the room with a celeb so far.
The stories and the lessons and the vision for what would come next for him were so beautiful.
I’m heartbroken today to hear that he’s passed and he won’t get to live out that vision.
Today, I’m feeling grateful that Cvent brought him in and that I snuck in to shake his hand, thank him for sharing and tell him to keep fighting before I got to stand for this photo with him.
Amongst all the current horrors, what a sad day for the world, truly 💔 This man was so wonderful.
