It feels a little silly to be heartbroken over the loss of a celebrity I honestly hadn’t thought a ton about for about 20 years.

But a couple of years ago I saw James Van Der Beek post about his sickness & cancer in the realest social media video I’d seen from a celebrity, maybe ever, and my heart just broke for him and his family.

But the wisdom he gained and shared out of his experience was inspirational and I will never forget that video.

Fast forward to last year and the team at (my favorite industry conference) actually somehow got this guy to be one of the keynote speakers at CONNECT.

Being a Dawson’s Creek fan girl and getting to be in the room with him was maybe one of the highlights of my life / opportunities to be in the room with a celeb so far.

The stories and the lessons and the vision for what would come next for him were so beautiful.

I’m heartbroken today to hear that he’s passed and he won’t get to live out that vision.

Today, I’m feeling grateful that Cvent brought him in and that I snuck in to shake his hand, thank him for sharing and tell him to keep fighting before I got to stand for this photo with him.

Amongst all the current horrors, what a sad day for the world, truly 💔 This man was so wonderful.

Quick update! TLDR: Taking a bit of a break from the podcast while I regroup and create some new magic.

Longer version:
You may have noticed (or maybe you haven't which is totally okay! HAHA) that I've slowed a bit over the past few weeks, missing a couple of Sundays now. (I have noticed because it's me/mine lol)

Life got a bit crazy as I dove back into the world of Corporate Meetings and took on some new work. So while I figure out how to balance all the things, I also want to take some time to decide what the next move is. I feel some heavy but important messages stirring and want to be intentional about the guests I bring onto the show that are in line with what's whispering and calling to my soul right now.

A bit of a hint is this:
1) Women are beautiful and the experience of being a woman is a LOT sometimes. I plan to do some episodes on "being a woman"

2) Women are rising. But where does that leave our men?

My answer: We need to bring them with us.

I'm excited to offer myself as a connector between some powerhouse women who specialize in working with men and the men who crave the work. This is still in infant stages but I want the world to know so that if you are a man and you find yourself craving resources, please know I'm gathering them as we speak! And if you're a woman coach who does the work with men, I'd love to connect with you!

This is such an important time and being the little communicator and connector that I am, I really want to use my powers (and my tiny platform) for the most good I can!

So, stay tuned. I'm taking a bit of a break but I will pick back up with the podcast soon, continuing to introduce you to some incredible humans who light me up and do important and amazing work in this world!

LOVE YOU!

This was such a soulful, beautiful conversation with my sweet friend Stacey Friedman! Thank you for taking the time to have this chat with me, Stacey.

On this episode we talked a lot about being a woman, the many iterations of SELF and being human... who we have BEEN and who we get to CHOOSE to be this year, next year, next season, etc. And of course a bit about being an Empath.

I met Stacey a handful of years ago at an event and have stayed connected with her ever since. There's something powerful and magical about her and her ability to hold space for the humans in her world.

2 years ago, on Valentine's Day (2021), I attended one of Stacey's free workshops on being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) / Empath and that hour literally changed my ENTIRE life. Suddenly everything that had ever happened to me made complete sense. I will always cherish this memory. We discuss my entire "empath epiphany" on this episode of Stacey's Podcast (Sensitive Soul Support).

A bit about Stacey:
Stacey Friedman is an integrative nutrition health coach, certified HMR® practitioner, empath educator and author. She is the founder of Lucky Girl Health & Wellness and serves overworked, stressed out women who are hungry to live more vibrant and joyful lives. She specializes in helping women heal their painful past so they can find peace in their lives.

Okay so Blair is one of my favorite humans and I loved this excuse to nail her down and catch up since Camp Tailwind back in September. We were bunkmates back in 2019 and chose to be bunkmates again this past summer and it was SO SO good to be together again. I'm so impressed with everything Blair does and am a huge supporter of her work. I hope you enjoy this episode and find some nuggets of wisdom to take away from the conversation. She shares a few of her favorite tips for building resilience (hint: resilience is built in the "down times" when you don't actually need the muscle). I've had my gratitude alarm going every day at 8:45am since our conversation. I hope you'll join me in this as well!

As always, please weigh in and share with me your favorite takeaways from the episode! THANK YOU FOR JOINING ME, BLAIR!!!! Adore you

I absolutely LOVED catching up with Julie Cole, co-founder of Mabel's Labels on this week's episode of This Isn't About Me. Julie is always such a joy to be around. She has so much energy and is such an uplifting and positive force. We first met back in 2019 at Alexis Dean's Camp Dovetail (now Camp Tailwind) where I met some other podcast guests. I've never forgotten her and it was lovely to reconnect last summer back at camp again! I hope you enjoy this (shorter!) episode where we chat about starting a physical product-based business in your basement and eventually get to sell that business sprinkled in with some side conversations about parenthood and career transitions!

This week's episode of This Isn't About Me features my very good friend David Delisle! We ran the gammut of random conversation in this episode but it all points back to David's incredible message of "there's power in the PAUSE." We went all over the place with different examples and ideas that David's currently fleshing out for his own unique message, but in the end it all came back to the PAUSE and unbiased questioning.

Being one of my closest friends, I'm continually fascinated with the way David's brain works. He sees things so differently than most of us do which always leaves me asking more questions. And what that generally boils down to is his ability to question everything without expecting a certain answer.

We had a bunch of laughs throughout this conversation and hopefully my prodding came through to shine a light on David's unique voice. Let us know what you take away from this episode and if you'll implement a bit more mindfulness and pause after hearing it!!

A bit about David:
At age 11, David made his first investment and by age 20 had begun investing in real estate. Learning the power of compound growth at such a young age enabled David to quickly become a self-proclaimed finance nerd and semi-retired by age 40. When he realized he wanted to pass his knowledge on to his two young sons, David began compiling notes into what would eventually become his first book, a graphic novel called The Golden Quest, that was published in 2022.

The book, and much of what David shares, is centered around seemingly simple concepts (young children grasp these concepts with ease) that hold the power to transform your mindset and everyday habits. David offers us a new way to think about money by noticing the weight of our words, choices, actions and the world around us.

Oh how my heart LOVED this conversation with Jill Valentine, founder of UGO Impact!

To be honest, I knew very little about Jill and her mission before this episode which you will hear in my semi-stunned and lost for words voice throughout the conversation as it all landed with me. We dive deep into volunteering and giving back both locally and internationally and everything in between. I'm so passionate about the topic of volunteering and was pleasantly surprised as this conversation unfolded.

My favorite part was right at the end in "Happy people don't start wars." Ain't that the truth. When you find purpose and fulfilment through being of service to the world at large, you are scientifically happier and happy, content with their life people don't start wars. They just don't.

I hope you are as inspired to get involved, if even in some small way, after listening to this episode as I was! Please leave your feedback for us and let us know your favorite part of this episode!

Here's a bit about Jill and her company:

Jill Valentine is the CEO and Transformational Travel & Life Purpose Coach of her social enterprise, UGO Impact. She leverages the power of travel and volunteerism as tools for creating profound personal change for her clients and social change for communities in need.

She is the creator of the UGO Triple Change Effect Model and author of Dare to be a Dandelion. As an adventurer and a passionate force for good she has volunteered thousands of hours for over 30 local and international organizations in a myriad of capacities.

Jill lives by the words, “Let’s Make it Happen” and is inspiring her daughter to do the same.
