When getting estimates for a paver patio, it’s important to know what’s underneath the pavers. The finished patios may look similar on day one—but the way they’re built can make a big difference years down the road.
A common used paver installation technique is a crushed-stone aggregate base. Over time, the crushed base can have movement, drainage issues, and freeze/thaw cycles, that contribute to settling, low spots, and uneven pavers. Weeds and grass can also establish themselves in the joints as dirt and organic material accumulate, ruining the look of your patio.
At 606 Masonry, we take it a step further.
For many of our paver installations, we build a reinforced concrete base first and install the pavers over the concrete. This creates a rigid foundation that greatly reduces the potential for the base to settle, rut, or shift underneath the patio.
