How Often Should You Clean the Dryer Vent?
The dryer vent should be cleaned about once a year on average. If you dry four or five loads of clothes daily, you may need to clean it as often as every six months. If you are only drying a load or two a week, you can probably get by with cleaning the dryer vent about every 18 months. For average use--two or three loads of clothes two or three times per week--cleaning your dryer vent once a year should keep it in good condition. It also helps to clean your lint trap after every use.

2, Why Should You Clean the Dryer Vent?
If you do not regularly clean the dryer vent, the dryer could catch on fire. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 15,600 clothes dryers caught on fire in the United States --resulting in millions of dollars in damages, injuries and 20 deaths. Dryer lint is flammable, and the reduced airflow from a clogged vent increases temperatures.

Cleaning your dryer vent will save you some money on your utility bills because drying time is reduced with a clean vent--and your dryer will last longer.
