SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The former owner of Flaming Margaritas in Branson has pleaded guilty in federal court to hiring immigrants who were in the United States illegally for his businesses.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), 26-year-old Berk Balgic — a Turkish national who owned both Flaming Margaritas Mexican Kitchen and Flaming Margaritas American Kitchen — pleaded guilty to “knowingly encouraging and inducing illegal aliens to reside illegally within the United States” on Thursday, May 21.

Balgic was accused of hiring individuals who were in the country illegally or in conflict with their stated visas, as well as aiding them to get false documents that appeared to show they complied with U.S. immigration laws. The DOJ also says Balgic paid those workers less than U.S. citizens or those living in the U.S. legally.

Texas Game Wardens have filed 74 charges against Darrell Maguire, 55, of New Braunfels, accused of illegally killing at least 13 white-tailed bucks in Comal, Hays, and Bexar counties between fall 2024 and late summer 2025, according to a May 21, 2026, news release from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The TPWD release states Maguire is alleged to have poached deer over an 11-month period, often shooting the animals with a crossbow from his vehicle, removing only the heads and leaving the carcasses to waste.

Texas Game Wardens filed 74 charges against Darrell Maguire of New Braunfels for allegedly poaching 13 white-tailed bucks.
