Complete Erosion Control System

Effective erosion control requires a combination of materials working together in a balanced system. We provide solutions designed for both small-scale and large infrastructure projects.

Our approach includes:

✔️High-performance hydraulic mulch with superior water retention
✔️Custom grass seed blends tailored for rural, urban, and TXDOT requirements
✔️Fertilizers with optimal N-P-K balance for plant health

Each component plays a critical role in stabilizing soil and promoting vegetation growth. The wood mulch with tackifier improves binding and protects against displacement. Cellulose mulch ensures consistent application and coverage. Grass seed mixtures are carefully prepared to match environmental conditions, but due to seasonality, early ordering is essential. Fertilizers support root development and increase plant resilience under stress.

When combined, these elements create a strong, sustainable erosion control solution.

When Rain Turns a Jobsite Into a Sediment Problem

Texas construction sites can change quickly when a heavy rain hits exposed soil. Once runoff starts moving across disturbed areas, sediment can leave the site, reach drainage systems, and create problems that are much harder to solve afterward. That is why erosion and sediment control should be part of the site plan from the beginning, not something added after the first storm.

Under the TPDES Construction General Permit, applicable projects must implement the controls identified in their Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3). The right BMP depends on the site, including slope, drainage patterns, soil conditions, and the stage of construction.

Texas Erosion Supply helps contractors address these challenges with erosion-control, sediment-control, stabilization, and drainage products for active construction sites. With locations in Wylie and Sherman, TES can support projects throughout the DFW area.

10/14/2026

There is no single erosion-control product that makes sense for every construction site. A steep slope with concentrated runoff presents a different challenge than a relatively flat area with sheet flow. Likewise, sediment moving toward a curb inlet requires a different approach than erosion occurring along a drainage channel. Before selecting a BMP, contractors should consider the direction and velocity of runoff, soil conditions, drainage points, slope characteristics, and how long the area will remain disturbed.

A practical erosion-control strategy combines measures that prevent soil from being displaced with controls that capture sediment before it leaves the site. Texas Erosion Supply carries products across these categories, from erosion blankets and turf reinforcement mats to silt fence, silt sock, inlet protection, wattles, and dewatering bags.

The goal is not simply to put a product on the ground, it is to match the control measure to the actual site problem.

Technical Overview of Burlap and Jute Mesh Fabrics

Burlap and jute mesh fabrics are designed for short-term soil stabilization and w**d suppression. These natural fibers retain moisture and warmth to accelerate seed germination. The fabric structure prevents w**d pe*******on while allowing air and water circulation. Lightweight composition simplifies transportation and installation.

Once vegetation is established, the material decomposes naturally into the soil. This ensures no synthetic waste remains in the environment. The fabrics are suitable for erosion control on slopes and hillside planting. They are also used for flowerbed coverage and root wrapping for trees and shrubs. Standard size availability supports flexible project planning.

Available specifications include:
– burlap: 3’ x 300’, 4’ x 250’, 4’ x 300’
– jute: 4’ x 225’

These options allow precise material selection for diverse landscaping needs.

Four Things to Check Before the Next Texas Storm

Texas weather can expose weaknesses in a construction site's erosion and sediment-control system very quickly. Before the next significant rainfall, it is worth looking at the areas where runoff is most likely to create problems.

Start with the basics:
✅ Exposed soil: Identify disturbed areas that still need stabilization.
✅ Drainage paths: Check where stormwater is concentrating and where it leaves the site.
✅ Inlet protection: Inspect curb and drop-inlet controls for accumulated sediment or damage.
✅ Perimeter controls: Look for gaps, bypasses, undercutting, or other signs that sediment controls are no longer functioning properly.

The TPDES Construction General Permit places significant emphasis on implementing and maintaining effective stormwater controls through the SWP3. A BMP that worked before a storm may need attention afterward. Texas Erosion Supply provides products for perimeter control, inlet protection, stabilization, drainage, and sediment management. Good site preparation is not just about responding to rain—it is about being ready for it.

Woven and Nonwoven Geotextiles: Reliable Solutions for Ground Stabilization

Woven and nonwoven geotextiles play a critical role in modern construction and environmental projects. Manufactured primarily from durable polypropylene fibers, these materials are designed to provide long-lasting performance in challenging conditions.

Woven geotextiles are known for their exceptional strength and are commonly used where enhanced soil stabilization is required. They are ideal for applications such as dirt roads, driveways, and areas exposed to heavy traffic. By reinforcing the ground, woven fabrics help distribute loads more effectively and improve surface stability.

Nonwoven geotextiles, on the other hand, are primarily selected for drainage and filtration applications. They are widely used in ditches, beneath drainage systems, and around pipes. These materials efficiently manage subsurface water flow while preventing soil loss.

Both woven and nonwoven geotextiles contribute significantly to erosion control and slope protection. Choosing the right geotextile ensures improved project performance and extended infrastructure lifespan.

Silt fence is familiar on Texas jobsites, but erosion and sediment control involves much more than one BMP. Different parts of a project can generate different runoff and sediment challenges. A perimeter may need sediment control while a slope requires stabilization, and a drainage point may require inlet protection or another specialized measure. Texas Erosion Supply maintains a broad product range so contractors can address multiple site conditions through one supplier.

That includes:
🔸 Erosion control: erosion blankets, turf reinforcement mats and ARVS.
🔸 Sediment control: silt fence, silt sock, wattles, silt dikes and inlet protectors.
🔸 Drainage: HDPE pipe, drain basins and corrugated metal pipe.
🔸 Stabilization: geotextiles, geogrids, hydraulic mulch, seed and fertilizer.

The right combination depends on the project design, site conditions, SWP3 and applicable requirements. Thinking about the site as a complete drainage and erosion-control system can produce a much more effective approach than selecting products individually.

Send TES your project requirements and let’s discuss the materials that fit your site. 👇

📖 𝗜𝗡 𝗕𝗟𝗢𝗚 What Is a Silt Fence? How It Works, When to Use It and Installation Tips

Silt fences are essential temporary sediment control barriers widely used across construction, grading, and land development sites in Texas.

By stretching geotextile fabric across stakes and burying the base, these barriers slow down stormwater runoff so suspended soil settles before leaving the property. This comprehensive guide details everything site managers, contractors, and engineers need to know about selecting the right fabric, avoiding undercutting, and complying with TCEQ requirements. You'll discover the distinct advantages of standard, wire-backed, and super silt fences for varying slopes and flow rates. We also walk you step-by-step through proper installation along terrain contours to ensure maximum efficiency during rain events. Finally, learn key SWPPP inspection and maintenance protocols to prevent structural failures, costly fines, and downstream liability.

Stabilization Matters When the Soil Is Exposed

Once construction disturbs the ground, rainfall has a much easier path to detach and transport soil. Stabilization is therefore a critical part of managing erosion on active sites. The objective is to reduce the ability of rainfall and runoff to disturb exposed soil while establishing a more durable surface.

Depending on the location and project requirements, contractors may use erosion-control blankets, turf reinforcement mats, hydraulic mulch, seed, fertilizer, or other stabilization methods. TxDOT specifications also address stabilization and erosion-control practices for transportation projects, while applicable construction sites must follow the requirements of their SWP3 and TPDES authorization. Product selection should account for slope, flow conditions, soil, vegetation establishment, and the expected duration of disturbance.

Texas Erosion Supply provides materials for both temporary and longer-term stabilization strategies.
