I am so excited to attend the Girl Meets World Professional Development Conference & Training this November (with a scholarship to boot!)... (Please do check out Girls Leadership - an awesome organization with great information for parents.) New paths are being carved out carefully as I embark on a new professional path...! Positive message retail will still exist, but life skills workshops & trai
ning/speaker series will commence for both girls, boys & parents. This training and certification along with a number of other programs and experience under my belt will enable me to different topical workshops, all with a strong emphasis on mindfulness and empathy. I will be embarking on community partnerships and hoping to work with humans who want to empower younger humans. Our youth today are full of such promise; however, so many conflicted, consistent, inconsistent messages are thrown their way - it's hard for them to manage emotions, cope with stress & find compassion for themselves - making mistakes is a good thing! Yes. The answer is yes. Question the mainstream messages - yes! Positive body image and body shaming is the first issue Kind Living will tackle by sponsoring the Wyomissing Girl Scout Troop 189 presentation of Embrace: The Documentary. SO FREAKING EXCITED! Please check out Body Image Movement and the incredibly honest and wonderfully true Taryn Brumfitt who brings us on this incredible journey. Please mark your calendars for THURSDAY, OCT. 27th - you will not want to miss this screening! Speakers and Q&A will hopefully be wrapped around the showing. Our link to purchase tickets should be available any day now {fingers crossed!} and the Girl Scouts will be working with a community organization for a collection and looking to accept donations towards their troop for further education for the girls throughout their Scouting year. Interested in getting involved, helping us spread the word or joining forces? Give me a holler! I would love to hear from you! (I am also working on bringing a second screening to our area sometime during the quieter winter months - February, March).
