From NX Cub pilot to 100 hours of tailwheel time! 👏

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy stopped by the CubCrafters display at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh for a closer look at the Carbon Cub ULT with CubCrafters President & CEO Pat Horgan.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the ULT and some of the innovation behind the next generation of CubCrafters aircraft, including turbine power, Jet-A fuel capability, and FADEC/single-lever engine control.

Part 3: David & Dusty Make It Home 🇦🇺✈️

The final push to Australia!

After making their way across the Middle East and into India, David Green and his Carbon Cub UL, “Dusty,” continued east through Southeast Asia toward home.

From Ahmedabad to Port Macquarie, David and Dusty covered 6,727 miles in 53 hours of flight time, flying through India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia before taking on their final open-water crossing to Broome, Australia.

Touching down in Broome meant that after flying across oceans and continents, Dusty had officially made it to Australia! 🇦🇺

But there were still a few thousand miles of Australia left to cross.

David and Dusty continued across the country before departing Birdsville for one final 7-hour flight to Port Macquarie. On August 20, after 30 days of adventure, David and Dusty’s were finally home.

From Yakima, Washington 🇺🇸 to Port Macquarie, Australia 🇦🇺, what an incredible adventure for a Carbon Cub UL powered by 916iS.

Backcountry Aviation With a Mission ✈️

In the remote mountains of Mexico, the Carbon Cub FX-3 is being used for a very different kind of backcountry flying.

Brent Dodd and the team at UIM Aviation use the FX-3 to access short, unimproved mountain airstrips and help connect people living in isolated communities with critical medical care.

On one recent mission, that capability helped a pregnant woman experiencing serious complications reach the hospital in time to safely deliver her baby. Before reaching the FX-3, she had been carried for 1.5 hours on a makeshift stretcher just to reach the remote mountain airstrip.

These photos offer a glimpse at the FX-3 at work and the important role backcountry aviation can play in places where access isn’t easy.

Did some ground runs today with the new 5 blade propeller on the Carbon Cub ULT. As our VP Brad Damm explained in his video a couple of days ago, turbines make more more torque than comparable piston engines, and more torque allows a bigger and more efficient prop, which in turn makes more thrust.

Initial numbers today look like about a 17% increase in static thrust for this new 5 blade as compared to the 4 blade we’ve been flying till now.

We will be excited to see what it does in the air!

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the TP-R90, so in this video we tackle a few of the big ones: how its tremendous torque translates into more propeller thrust, why that advantage grows with altitude, and how the TP-R90 and TP-R150 are actually the same basic engine.

And yes, we talk about (and show) the new / next-generation five-blade propeller for the turbine engine that starts flight testing shortly, and discuss the added performance gains we expect to see from it.

Part 2 of David’s Journey to Australia 🌎✈️

After completing the North Atlantic crossing, David Green and his Carbon Cub UL, Dusty, have continued east across Europe, through the Middle East to South Asia!

The miles are adding up quickly, with some legs stretching 9–11 hours. Since crossing the North Atlantic, David and Dusty have covered another 4,500 miles in just over 46 hours of flying!

Australia is getting closer! 🇦🇺
