We will be having a significant wind and rain the next few days. Some signals will be compromised. After the storm is over, if your Internet speeds are not what you expect, please call the office so we may adjust from here, or hurry a service person out to help you!

Thank you,

We wanted to give an update on our two year program to improve speeds on our Wireless network. While other ISP's claim they offer 100mbps, they only do it on one or two of their towers. We have waited until a vast majority of our network can offer that. As of this time 76% of our towers are capable of 100mbps customer speeds.

Our installers have contacted anyone who is on plans Ultra and above to arrange for replacing the radios on their homes and businesses. As always there is no charge for these upgrades. Again, our competitors are charging for those upgrades and requiring contracts. Once installed the speeds automatically are raised over what you are currently provided.

You can see pricing on our website wabroadband.com. We do have a limit of 4 miles from the tower in order to guarantee speeds. It's exciting to provide speeds equivalent to wired competitors while still with our never raise the prices philosophy.

We don't take your ongoing loyalty for granted, and appreciate that you have chosen Washington Broadband!

After a summer of upgrading radios, we have officially turned up the speeds on all plans at no extra cost. We also now offer a 100mbps download speed as radios continue to improve. We're not sitting back, we continue to upgrade our network. Now that we have sold off our Wired division, we are spending all of our money on upgrading the Wireless side. You should immediately see faster speeds. We will have more but you can go to https://wabroadband.com/services/ right now and see how your price now has faster speeds.

If you're wondering about the the fiber-Wireless speeds, that means towers that are directly fed from our old fiber network. We aren't just announcing 100mbps speeds on our entire network as our competitors do without the network to support it. Also if you choose the fastest speeds we don't force you into a contract or make you pay for the radio. We're still far better than the others in this town and we aim to prove it. Always call us if you don't get the speeds you are paying for, we'll fix it! Thank you!

We think we found the problem with the slow loading streaming. After the AWS outages we started having people say their HULU and other streams were taking forever to open. We determined that something called "Peering" built an improper path after the big AWS outage. This caused all of these APP's to start loading slowly. We have rebuilt all our paths and now find the network far more responsive. So starting fresh, if you have this problem PLEASE let us know at [email protected] if you are having issues! Thank you!

Tuesday is the day we complete the transition of our Fiber and Cable plant over to purchaser Spectrum Communications. We still have our very successful Wireless side of the company, with the same joyful staff you are used to. It's big for us too, we'll miss the customers moving with the sale, and we're proud that in 7 years we were able to build 178 miles of fiber and purchased cable in the upper and west Yakima valley. We're part of you, you're part of us!

It's nice to help the areas that have helped us during our construction time. We built 178 miles of fiber/cable, and now as we wind down to Wireless, extra equipment is sold and donated. Thanks Yakima Herald for the story!

Washington Broadband owner Forbes Mercy donated a $30,000 boom truck to the city of Tieton on Tuesday.

We're not done improving, that's for sure! Our goal is to make 100mbps speeds available. Here is construction on our Cowiche Mountain to add new technology and protected spectrum radios available to Cowiche, Tieton, and West Valley with much faster speeds in the next few months. Wireless still lives and grows with us!

VOTE FOR US ONE LAST TIME!

One more unrelated subject, Washington Broadband was voted by our customers as the best Internet Service Provider for 7 straight years in the Yakima Herald Republic (The last two years for the Business Times). It’s likely the last year we will compete in that column. Would you, as our long-time customers be kind enough to vote for us one last time? Just a personal request. Thank you! A Message from Forbes Mercy, President of Washington Broadband, Inc.

Dear Valued Customers,
I’m reaching out today to share important news regarding the future of Washington Broadband, Inc.

After more than three decades of building and operating our network, we have entered into an agreement to sell a portion of our assets, including our cable and fiber Internet services—to Charter Communications, known to most of you as Spectrum.

From the beginning, this transition was part of a long-term strategy. We built our network to connect directly with Spectrum’s infrastructure and expanded service into suburban and rural Yakima with the hope that, when the time was right for my retirement, Spectrum would be interested in acquiring our wired operations. That time has now come.

What’s Included in the Sale?
The sale includes our entire wired infrastructure, both cable and fiber networks. This does not include the Washington Broadband, Inc. corporation itself, our wireless network, or our phone company, Washington Telco LLC. Those entities remain fully owned and operated by me.

Why Now?
My journey in the Internet industry began in 1994 with dial-up and spanned 31 years of innovation and community service. I’ve been proud to represent this industry at the state and federal levels, including with the FCC and Congress, while serving on the board of the National Association of Wireless Internet Service Providers.
Before that, I served for 17 years as a firefighter—ultimately as Fire Chief—and have run a medical instruction company for over four decades. After 52 years of continuous work, the time has come for me to begin a new chapter: retirement.

What This Means for You
I know that many of you have been with us for over 20 years, and you’ve come to rely on the personal, local support we provide. It was important to me to find a buyer that respects our industry and will continue to serve you with professionalism. That’s why I chose Spectrum.

If you are a customer on our wired network, you will soon (if not already) receive communication from Spectrum. The transition is well underway, and they will guide you through the next steps.

You do not need to contact Charter, they will contact you. Is pricing guaranteed? Spectrum will match our pricing for now, but I cannot control future pricing or policies as I will no longer own the network. Once the transition is made you will go into the Spectrum database if you choose to transition to them and they alone will bill you. Until then you still pay us for service

For Our Wireless and Telephone Customers
Nothing is changing for now. Washington Broadband remains your provider, and we’re still here for you. While the rest of the company is available for sale, there is no timeline yet for any additional changes. In the meantime, we’re continuing to improve our wireless services and expect to roll out significant speed upgrades by fall, still with no increase in price as has been our practice for all our years in existence.

Thank you for the trust and loyalty you’ve shown us over the years. It’s been a privilege to serve you, and Washington Broadband, Inc. is proud to continue delivering fast, affordable, and locally supported Internet service for as long as we can.

Warm regards,
Forbes Mercy
