We are heading in to an extra hot weekend with highs expected into the 90s. Starting at 1201am on June 16, the Yamhill County Fire Chiefs have declared a burn ban. Although this doesn't go into effect until Tuesday morning, please use extreme caution if burning this weekend. It's going to be hot and the humidity is going to be low. Make sure that you have water sources available to extinguish any out of control fires. If you have any questions about the county wide burn ban, contact your local fire district.

Wildfires can happen quickly, so make sure you're prepared ahead of time to be able to leave quickly should conditions dictate. To help you prepare, remember these three steps:

🎒Prepare an emergency kit
🗺Plan two evacuation routes and meeting points

⏳Conditions change rapidly. Leave if you feel unsafe.

3️⃣ 𝘓𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭 3 - 𝘎𝘰 𝘕𝘰𝘸 (Wildfire is 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘵)
🚘 Leave without delay. It is unsafe to stay.
❌ Do you stop to gather belongings or protect your home.
🚧 Do not return until officials announce the area is safe.

Preparation is key. Stay safe, stay informed and be ready to act when necessary. Law enforcement agencies order evacuations but if you don’t feel safe, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧.

That time of year is approaching where our spring backyard burn season comes to a close. Start planning now as this is the last weekend to burn that backyard debris until October.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! This coming Sunday is the annual Derby Days kickoff breakfast at the fire hall. Hope to see you all there. $10 adults. $5 kids over 4.

Congratulations to Yamhill Volunteer and 2026 YC High School graduate, Annie Featherston. Annie is a third generation Yamhill Volunteer. She has completed fire academy, is certified as an EMR, and is currently working on her EMT. In the fall, she is starting nursing classes. Congratulations Annie on a job well done.
