I haven’t been in the civilian workforce very long—about four years—but I’ve noticed a consistent pattern across many organizations. Companies understandably prioritize operations and sales, yet two of the most critical business functions are often undervalued: Human Resources and Accounting.

Human Resources builds the organization. HR brings in new talent, supports every department, sets cultural expectations, advises leaders at all levels, establishes policies and standards, manages benefits and employee issues, and plays a critical role in workforce planning, strategic growth, and long-term organizational health.

Accounting is equally foundational. Without strong financial controls and accurate accounting, a business can unravel quickly. Payroll fails, vendors and customers go unpaid, financial statements become unreliable, and leadership loses visibility into cash flow, profitability, and risk.

Downplaying the responsibility and impact of these functions is a costly mistake. Financial capital and human capital are the lifeblood of any organization—and nothing is more important than protecting and managing both effectively. Sustainable growth requires every department to work in sync, with each function respected for the value it brings.

A true business mindset doesn’t isolate departments; it enables collaboration. When leaders value input across the organization and leverage the collective experience of their teams, they build stronger cultures, better decision-making, and more resilient businesses.

Rang in the new year with NRG Controls and their Paylocity implementation.

HRIS is ready to rock and roll. So is the Performance Management System.

Payroll is always a question mark and we were 90% there. A Few hiccups that were corrected immediately.

All in all a great success.

It has been a successful few weeks with NRG Controls since the last update. The HR, Recruiting, Performance Management and employee profiles are all set and ready to go. NRG Controls staff is extremely happy with the progress. Once a couple more test payrolls are run, everything will be ready to roll as promised by January 1st!

I want to thank their entire team for seamless teamwork and communication. They made this grueling process very simple and professional. Coordination between them and Endex has be amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better group to work with!

It has been a busy few weeks since partnering with NRG Controls on their new HR, Payroll, LMS, systems platform, updated policies, onboarding procedures, position descriptions, positions coding, etc. The implementation is rolling along and going very well. Their team is full of great people who are ready to get things done!

Managing a project with a new company is a great challenge and seeing the foundation take place and the excitement of employees for a new program has been extremely welcoming.
