Most employers think they know what a background check includes.

They usually don't.

Here's what a thorough pre-employment background check usually covers:
🔍 Criminal history - county, state, federal, and national database
✅ Identity verification - SSN trace, I-9 compliance
🎓 Education & employment verification
🚗 Driving records (when relevant to the role)
📋 Professional license verification
💊 Drug & alcohol screening (DOT and non-DOT)
🌐 S*x offender and abuse registry checks

And that's before we get into specialized screenings - PA Act 153 for anyone working with children, OIG exclusions for healthcare, credit reports for financial roles.

The package that's right for your organization depends on the role, the industry, and the regulations that apply to you.

Not sure where to start? That's exactly what we're here for.

Here is something most employers do not think about until it is too late.

If you hire someone without a background check, and that person harms a customer, a colleague, or a member of the public, your organization can be held liable for negligent hiring.

Negligent hiring means you knew, or should have known, that an employee posed a risk, and failed to find out.

The cost of a lawsuit, a settlement, or a damaged reputation far exceeds the cost of a background check.

At CBY Professional Services, we offer employment screening services built for businesses of every size, from a single hire to an organization-wide program. Fast turnaround. Accurate results. Full compliance with Pennsylvania and federal law.
Because protecting your business starts before the first day on the job.

One bad hire in a healthcare or social services setting does not just cost money.

It puts vulnerable people at risk.

Pennsylvania requires background screenings for anyone working with vulnerable populations, including the elderly, disabled individuals, and children.

Failing to properly screen a potentially unsafe candidate can expose your organization to significant legal liability, including negligent hiring lawsuits.

At CBY Professional Services, we provide comprehensive employment screening for healthcare organizations and nonprofits, including:

→ Criminal background checks (county, state, federal)
→ Child abuse and abuser registry checks
→ OIG and healthcare compliance screening
→ Drug and alcohol testing
→ Professional license verification
→ I-9 and Social Security verification

We have been trusted by organizations across this region since 1927 because we get it right, every time.

If your screening process feels like a checkbox rather than a real safeguard, it is time for a conversation.

Reach out and let's talk about what your organization actually needs.

Your church exists to be a safe place.

Background screening is one of the most important ways you protect that.

Under Pennsylvania Act 153, anyone 14 or older who has direct contact with children through work or volunteering is required to complete:

✔ PA Criminal History Records Check
✔ PA Child Abuse History Clearance
✔ FBI Fingerprint Check

That includes Sunday school teachers, bible school helpers, youth group leaders, nursery volunteers, camp counselors, bus drivers, and anyone who regularly interacts with children in your ministry.

Clearances must be renewed regularly. Are yours?

CBY Professional Services helps churches across the region stay compliant, without the confusion. We know the requirements, we know the process, and we are here to make it easy for your team.
Because protecting your congregation should never feel complicated.

Let's talk about how we can help your church stay covered.

If you are a teacher, student teacher, coach, volunteer, or anyone who works with children in Pennsylvania, you need three clearances before you can step foot in a school, camp, or youth program:

📋 PA State Police Criminal History Check

📋 PA Child Abuse History Clearance

📋 FBI Fingerprint Background Check

Most people end up going to three different places, paying in three different ways, and hoping they did it right.

At CBY Professional Services, you come to us once. We handle all three, walk you through the process, and make sure everything is done correctly the first time.

Fast. Affordable. Stress-free.

If you or someone you know needs clearances before starting a new role this summer, we are here.
