Three Hundred people trained. Since I began doing ELDT training about 4 years ago, I have now trained 300 people in 12 states. I continue to more and more local governments and private companies and have many repeat customers. I am fairly well booked over the next few months but can still do some local work if you are flexible with your schedule. Call with any questions. 717 340 3174,

Some school bus companies are offering to train you to get your class B CDL ( with the school bus endorsement) , you will likely get an S restriction. This allows for an easier final test BUT...the S restriction means that you CANNOT drive any trucks. ONLY school buses AND only in PA. Cannot go out of state.

SO if you are an employer looking to hire a class B driver, make sure they dont have the S restriction on their license. If so , they CANNOT drive a B truck unless they go back and retest IN a class B truck.

In Pennsylvania , if you have a CDL with an automatic restriction...you only have to redo the driving test ( not the pre trip or backing) in ANY CDL truck. Even if you have a class A and do the restriction removal in a Class B truck.

And...it can be ANY type of manual transmission. So a 6 speed manual 33,000 lb class B truck will allow you to remove the restriction off of your class A CDL.

Just finished up training another township highway crew member towards getting his Limited Class A CDL. Next week will be two highway crew employees from another township and I have yet another township employee coming up in October.

Municipal governments find they can save a lot of money ( and time) by going through my training as a Traveling ELDT / CDL Provider.

My total York County local government entities I have worked with is up to 11 now. Plus 1 Adams County township.

I am almost fully booked for the rest of 2026 but 2027 is wide open. And yes, I can train in the winter. It's called " dress for success".

If you are placed OUT OF SERVICE , can you fix your own equipment ? Yes although brake adjustment standards require a skill certification. Most issues can be corrected roadside and if you can fix something on your own , you save the cost and time of a road call out.

Can you pause your CDL if you aren't using it or cannot pass your DOT physical ? YES

In PA , you can resubmit for DL-11CD and change your driving status to " EI ". While you are stating that you are exempt from needing a medical card, you get to keep your CDL BUT you cannot actually USE it. If and when you want to start using it again, Get a new med card , resubmit this same form but check the box next to the letter " NI" and you are back in business.

There is no cost to do this and no time limits involved at all.

DOT tip of the day. If you could only carry ONE spare bulb in your truck , what would you carry ?

Answer. A rear turn signal bulb. The ONLY time you can get put OOS for a single bulb being out is for a rear turn signal.

And no, you cannot take a bulb from another light to " fix" this violation. You cannot create a violation to fix another one.

When do you need a DOT Medical card ??

If you are driving a truck or truck trailer combination with a total registered ( so empty or loaded) weight that EXCEEDS 17,000 pounds as part of a business....You need a DOT Medical card just like a CDL holder. This only applies to travel inside of PA.

If you drive a truck or truck trailer combination with a total registered weight over 10,000 pounds as part of a business AND cross a state line...you need a DOT Medical card.

RV"s and personal use vehicles do not need medical cards.

And for those NON CDL trucks....the driver MUST carry a PAPER copy of their DOT Medical card while driving. Not having the card to present upon request is an OUT OF SERVICE violation.

CDL holders do not need to carry a paper medical card as their med card was submittted to Penndot at the time of it's renewal by the medical provider.
