After years in law enforcement, I know how much pride people take in doing the job right. But when going above and beyond earns the same recognition as doing the bare minimum, it wears people down. A sincere thank-you, an honest evaluation, and fair compensation matter. Good leadership gives dedicated employees a reason to keep giving their best.

⚠️ AI AND CONFIDENTIALITY: THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE

The February ruling in United States v. Heppner raises an important issue for anyone using artificial intelligence to discuss sensitive legal matters.

A federal judge ruled that a defendant’s exchanges with Claude AI, used to develop possible defense arguments without his attorney’s direction, were not protected by attorney-client privilege or the work product doctrine. Sharing those documents with his attorney afterward did not make them privileged. The court also relied on the platform’s privacy policy in finding that the exchanges were not confidential.

As a retired law enforcement officer and private investigator, I believe this deserves attention. AI can be useful, but we should never assume that typing something into a chatbot provides the same protections as a confidential conversation with an attorney.

This ruling does not mean every AI conversation is public or that every use of AI destroys legal protections. It does mean we need to understand the risks before uploading attorney communications, case details, or sensitive records.

Technology is moving quickly. Our responsibility to protect confidential information must keep pace.

Protecting your business begins with making informed hiring decisions.

One of the services offered by Williams Public Safety Solutions LLC is assisting businesses with employment background investigations. Recently, we worked with a Richmond-area construction and property-management company that was considering four applicants for various positions.

Our investigation confirmed that three applicants had accurately represented their qualifications and appeared well suited for the positions. However, the fourth investigation uncovered significant discrepancies, including deceptive statements, false information, and other concerning findings that may not have been discovered through a routine review of the application.

A résumé tells you what an applicant wants you to know. A thorough, legally compliant background investigation can help reveal what an employer needs to know.

If your business needs professional assistance evaluating prospective employees, contact Williams Public Safety Solutions LLC. We provide discreet, thorough, and objective investigations that help employers make informed hiring decisions.

🚨BREAKING: A man in North Carolina was arrested after he showed up to a small-town church full of worshippers armed with two flamethrowers, crossbows, over 500 rounds of am******on, knives, duct tape, police scanners, and a notebook listing addresses of churches and schools.

He was sitting in his truck wearing full body armor and camouflage. A church member spotted him and called 911. An off-duty police officer working security walked up and confronted him. The man falsely claimed he was law enforcement enforcing a smoking violation.

Police disarmed him without a shot being fired.

This is a chilling reminder of the growing need for serious security at churches.
