This week I'm speaking at four different events.

Tuesday morning I'm the featured speaker at Synapse Hub. The topic is "Pull the Cord: Why Your Business Won't Survive 30 Days Without You, And What to Do About It."

Tuesday evening I'm leading an introduction for a program that has fundamentally changed how I lead and how I live.

Wednesday morning is a field trip to the Fear2Freedom warehouse in Newport News. You will physically pack survivor kits that ship to victims of sexual assault across the country. Not a presentation. Not a panel. You will put your hands on something that changes someone's life that day.

Thursday evening I lead the introduction again.

Every one of these is an opportunity to leave with something real. A new way of seeing something. An action you take that week.

I had a friend ask the other day "Matt, what do you do" and I realized I haven't communicated effectively so people close to me don't actually know what I do.

I help teams work better together, every player be happier in their role and let go of that "overwhelmed" or "burnout" feeling through organizational structure and clarity.

I was finishing up soccer practice when my phone rang.

It was my cousin. Before I could even say hello: "He's gone. I don't know what to do. I don't know how to live without him. He's gone."

"What? Who? Who's gone?"

That phone call changed everything.

A few weeks ago I rode my motorcycle behind a group of cyclists for 30 miles through the Tour de Cure, a 100-mile ride for the American Diabetes Association. My job was simple. Stay behind them. Keep them safe. Watch the road.

At one point I found myself following a family of four. Mom, dad, two kids, all pedaling together.

And I thought of him.

He loved his kids like that. Showed up for his family the best way he could, every single day. I loved that man like a brother. I still do.

Diabetes took him from us.

When they asked if I could ride that day, I didn't need to think about it.

You show up for the things that took something from you. That's how you turn grief into something useful.

If you rode, volunteered, donated, or just showed up, thank you. You were riding for real people. Real families.

I know because I'm one of them.

Some events are just events. This isn't one of them.

The Pull the Cord Boogie — May 1-3, 2026 at Skydive Suffolk — is a community coming together to support Fear 2 Freedom and remind each other what's possible.

No one left alone. No one left behind.

If you've ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or like your struggles define you — this is the reminder that they don't.

You are not stuck. You are capable of more than you think.

You CAN Pull the Cord Boogie is a skydiving event built around Mental Health Awareness Month in partnership with Fear 2 Freedom.

This is not therapy. No medical treatment. No clinical programs.

This is a community of people who believe mental health doesn't get to define you or take you over. You have the power. We're building a space where nobody is left alone, nobody is left behind, and everybody walks away knowing they did something they didn't think they could do.

Licensed skydivers. Students. First-time tandem jumpers. All skill levels welcome.

Open jump operations all three days. Coached sessions. Canopy piloting demos. Camping available.

April 25th I'll be at Windsor Castle Park for the ADA Tour de Cure Mid-Atlantic.

Diabetes has touched almost every family I know.

I'm helping keep riders safe on the road and I need motorcycle escorts. About 30 total. You don't have to commit to the whole day. A few hours makes a real difference.
