⚠️ POSSIBLE ASBESTOS HAZARD ⚠️
Older homes can contain materials that may contain asbestos, including vermiculite insulation, pipe wrap, floor tiles, siding, ceiling materials, and more. One of the most important things homeowners should understand is that these materials cannot be officially identified as asbestos without proper laboratory testing performed by a licensed asbestos contractor.
During a home inspection, we may identify materials that appear consistent with possible asbestos-containing materials based on age, appearance, and location within the home. While these materials are often harmless if left undisturbed, cutting, sanding, remodeling, or damaging them can release microscopic fibers into the air.
Exposure to airborne asbestos fibers has been linked to serious long-term health concerns, including respiratory disease and certain forms of cancer. That’s why identifying potential concerns before renovations or repairs is so important.
At Stone Home Inspections, our goal is to help educate and protect our clients by identifying visible materials that may warrant further evaluation by a licensed asbestos professional.
