Ever wondered how ducks stay dry while swimming all day?

Ducks have a secret weapon: the preen gland (or oil gland). Located near the base of their tail, this gland produces a special oil. Using their beaks, ducks carefully spread this oil over their feathers during a process called "preening."

This natural coating acts like a raincoat, making water roll right off their backs instead of soaking in.
