Big news — I’ve officially launched Catalyst Fundraising Strategies, LLC right here in Ypsilanti.

Catalyst helps small-to-mid-sized nonprofit organizations across Washtenaw County and Southeast Michigan strengthen their fundraising, build sustainable revenue, and create systems that actually work for the long term.

After 25+ years working with mission-driven organizations, I’ve seen how many incredible programs struggle simply because they don’t have the right fundraising infrastructure in place. This new venture is about changing that — reducing overwhelm, building clarity, and helping organizations grow with confidence.

I had the pleasure of attending a luncheon yesterday where we discussed the impacts of the Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) Here's what I'm walking away with:

Nonprofit leaders — a major shift in fundraising just happened.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill” isn’t just a policy change. It’s changing how donor behavior works — and that directly impacts revenue stability, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and annual giving models.

Here’s what Executive Directors and Development Leaders need to know:

✔ Annual giving may become less predictable — donors are likely to “bunch” gifts into certain years.
✔ Major gifts may take longer to close — tax incentives are weaker, impact expectations are higher.
✔ Small and mid-level donors just became strategically critical.
✔ Corporate giving may become more selective.
✔ Cash flow volatility will increase — financial planning and reserves matter more than ever.

The organizations that will thrive are not the ones chasing single gifts — they’re the ones building strong fundraising systems, diversified revenue, and relationship-driven donor programs.
